Ling Sen Tong is a Buddhist/Taoist cave temple located at the foot of a limestone hill in Ipoh, Perak. The name literally translates as 'Rock of Heavenly Spirits'. It is located next to Nam Thean Tong and Sam Poh Tong Temples just off the Jalan Gopeng (Gopeng Road) to the South of Ipoh.
This is, I think, all of the Chinese characters in American Born Chinese.
The only characters that don't appear in the Monkey King's section are the top two red and white ones at the bottom right; they appear over Jin's and Chin-Kee's sections, respectively. These are maybe names?

Those beautiful well tended Bougainvilleas are everywhere in this Temple complex, some are miniature Bonsai and others exceed 20ft in height and it is said that they flower for 365 days a year. There are also a few of multicolour.

One of the scene from the story "Journey to the west" where the Monkey King battle with the red child.
There are many similarities between the Red Boy (红孩儿/紅孩兒) and Nezha (哪吒). Although many say only Nezha have the wind fire wheel and that Red Boy just stand on fire to fly and travel, this figure of Red Boy uses the wind fire wheel. I am not sure is it a mistake or maybe my understanding of the mythical character is not deep enough.

From it came a stone monkey.
The nature of monkey was irrepressible!!"

Red-shanked Douc Langur
Genus: Pygathrix
Species: nemaeus nemaeus
Douc langurs are found in Southeast Asian countries of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. The beautiful red-shanked douc langur is only found in north and central Vietnam and Laos. Its habitat is in the lowland to montane primary and secondary rainforest where it lives in the mid to upper levels of the canopy.
The colorful red-shanked douc langur looks like a potbellied little man wearing a gray shirt and black pants. Over the pants it wears deep maroon leg warmers from knees to ankles, and on its arms are elbow length white gloves. Black feet and hands stick out from under the costume. Its face is a beautiful reddish yellow with powder blue eyelids over humorous dark eyes. Framing its face is a long, white ruff of hair. Its tail is white with two white rump patches for the males. Females have
similar colors, but are missing the white rump patches. It is sometimes called the "costumed ape". The name douc is an ancient name of Vietnamese origin.
Like all langurs, the red-shanked douc langur is a long slender monkey. It is part of the colobine monkey family, but surprisingly is more closely related to proboscis monkeys than langurs. Its overall size is 61-76 cm, with males slightly larger than females. Males weigh approximately 7 kg, and females 5 kg. Their tails are about 56-76 cm long.
Mating takes place from August to December. The pregnancy lasts 180 to 190 days resulting in the birth of a single offspring just before fruiting season of some favorite foods. The young are born with their eyes wide open and they cling to their mothers instinctively. Their body color is lighter than those of the adults, with short downy gray hair and a dark stripe down their back. Their faces are black with two light stripes under the eyes. They get their adult colors at about 10 months. Females reach sexual maturity at about 4 years, while the males reach it at 4-5 years. They have a life span of about 25 years.
Red-shanked douc langurs are diurnal and eat, sleep and feed in the trees of the forest. They use their arms and legs to move through the forest along established routes. They will often jump from branch to branch, holding their arms out over their heads and pushing off with their legs, landing feet first on the next branch. The troop is led by adult males, with females and infants in the center, while the juvenile males bring up the rear. When they are relaxed, they will move noiselessly through the forest. They can move quickly and soundlessly through the trees if alarmed. But when startled, they give loud barks and rush around the trees slapping branches with their hands. Much of their time is spent digesting food, grooming and dozing.
The diet of the red-shanked douc langur consists mostly of leaves high in fibers. One of the many species of colobine monkeys, or leaf-eating monkeys, they have large stomachs which are divided into sacs containing bacteria that break down the cellulose in leaves, which give them their pot-bellied look. This also makes them burp a lot from the resulting gas. They prefer to eat small, young and tender leaves, but will also eat fruit like figs, buds, flowers and bamboo shoots. They get all the liquid they need from the food they eat, and don't need to descend to the ground to drink. They are messy and chaotic feeders, dropping much of their food onto the forest floor. They eat peacefully together, not quarreling over their food, and have been known to share it with others.
The main predator of the red-shanked douc langur are humans. They are threatened throughout their limited range by habitat destruction and hunting. Native people hunt them for food and body parts, which are used in traditional medicine. There is also a very lucrative and illegal wildlife trade for the red-shanked douc langur. During the Vietnam War the douc habitat was heavily bombed and sprayed with defoliants like Agent Orange. Soldiers also used them for target practice, it is said.
The red-shanked douc langur is on the IUCN Red List of endangered species, and CITES I prohibits international trade. However, Vietnamese laws protecting the douc langurs have been difficult to enforce.

'Havoc in Heaven' 《闹天宫》(famously known as part of 'The Monkey King' story) is from the book 'Journey To The West' 西游记. This particular tale revolves around the Monkey King Sun Wukong 孙悟空齐天大圣, the self-proclaimed Great Sage The Equal of Heaven. One day, he becomes enraged because the Queen Mother does not invite him to the Festival of Immortal Peaches. He seeks revenge by eating and stealing all of the peaches 偷吃蟠桃as well as some wine and the golden elixir 御酒before returning to his domain of the Flower and Fruit Mountain花果山. Upon learning the Monkey King's transgression, the Celestial Emperor 玉皇大帝is very angry and he dispatches a troupe of celestial troop to capture the Monkey King but none of them is Sun Wukong's match.

The Mei Lanfang Beijing Opera Troupe 北京梅兰芳京剧团came to Vancouver and Victoria BC, Canada to showcase traditional Chinese Jingju 京剧(Peking opera) to oversea audiences. They performed at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Dec 22 and 23 for two evening shows of 'The Legend of Lady White Snake' 《白蛇传》. There is also be a 2PM matinee presentation of selected scenes from other Peking operas such as 'Farewell My Concubine'《霸王别姬》, 'Havoc in Heaven'《闹天宫》from the Monkey King story of Sun Wukong 孙悟空 and 'The Autumn River' on December 23 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Additional engagements include Dec 27 at the Molson Canadian Theatre at Hard Rock Casino in Coquitlam for the performances of Crossroads 《三岔口》and Havoc in Heaven 《闹天宫》and on Dec 28 at the Bell Performing Arts Centre in Surrey for 'The Orphan of Zhao《赵氏孤儿》。The troupe then moves on to Victoria, BC to entertain audiences at the Royal Theatre for an evening performance of Lu Bu and Diao Chan《吕布与貂婵》on Jan 03, 2018。

Monkey king Dunny. also well known as Sun Wukong from the famous chinese tale : Journey to the West. Made from 3" Dunny, I managed to do 3 of them. I Used red fabric for the scarf, and I leave the eyes gloss to make it abit contrast.

北京京剧院梅兰芳京剧团加拿大温哥华上演传统大戏 开启“一带一路” 京剧之旅。北京京剧院梅兰芳京剧团，是中国唯一以艺术家个人名字命名的国家级表演艺术团体，创建于20世纪20年代。京剧艺术大师梅兰芳先生代表作有《貴妃醉酒》《太真外傳》《穆桂英掛帥》《宇宙锋》等。
梅兰芳京剧团《霸王别姬》由陈俊杰扮演项羽, 窦晓璇扮演虞姬。除《霸王别姬》Farewell My Concubine之外，其他日期和场地的表演包括《白蛇传》Legend of Lady White Snake、《闹天宫》Havoc in Heaven、《三岔口》San Cha Kou or Crossroads 和《秋江》The Autumn River《吕布与貂婵》Lu Bu and Diao Chan、《赵氏孤儿》Orphan of Zhao。本次出访，北京京剧院派出70人强大的演出阵容，包括多位国家一级演员经常在CCTV-11戏曲频道《CCTV空中剧院》中演出。于2017年12月22日-28日分别在温哥华女王剧院 、莫尔森加拿大剧院、拜尔剧场举行5场演出；于2018年1月3日在Royal 维多利亚皇家剧院进行1场演出。希望加拿大观众能体现京剧艺术的魅力，从而更好地推广中国传统文化。
北京京剧院梅兰芳京剧团优秀武丑演员，毕业于中国戏曲学院，叶（盛章）派武丑研习班学员。曾荣获：京津冀武戏培训展演金奖；“深见杯”武戏武打比赛优秀表演奖；北京京剧院全国青年京剧演员擂台邀请赛“新人奖”等奖项。
此次出演由梅兰芳京剧团团长李宏图带队，他是著名京剧叶派小生，国家一级演员，梅花奖获得者，文化部优秀专家，亚洲最杰出艺人终身成就奖获得者。艺术总监叶少兰先生，系著名“叶派”京剧表演艺术家，首届梅花奖获得者；1986年被美国授予富布赖特国际学者；1999年6月获美国美华艺术中心授予的终生成就奖。著名京剧表演艺术家叶少兰说：“中国的京剧艺术在世界戏剧舞台中具有独特地位和无可比拟的文化价值，要在不断发展的过程中坚守民族文化特色。此次出演将让海外观众能够更深入、更全面的了解京剧文化。”
京剧这一“人类非物质文化遗产”，被称为中国的国粹和东方艺术的瑰宝。今年恰逢加拿大建国150周年，北京京剧院与中意博联（北京）国际文化传播有限公司、天涯星灿文化发展中心合作，是“一带一路，京剧之旅”五年计划的一个美好开始。以传播中国优秀传统艺术来实现文明交流、文明互鉴、文明共存的理想。

Nam Thean Tong. 南天洞 'Cave of the Southern Sky'

Ling Sen Tong is a Buddhist/Taoist cave temple located at the foot of a limestone hill in Ipoh, Perak. The name literally translates as 'Rock of Heavenly Spirits'. It is located next to Nam Thean Tong and Sam Poh Tong Temples just off the Jalan Gopeng (Gopeng Road) to the South of Ipoh.
Many years ago we used to call these large incense coils Elephant coils to differentiate then from the smaller coils and Joss sticks. With careful selection you can find some that leave a delicate and pleasant aroma around the house and they last for many hours.
Best to find the ones with a stiffener and place them on a plate because if hung up high the smoke will stain the ceiling. Unsupported they lie flat.
