Five monks meditating at Sarangkot, while enjoying one of the most awe-inspiring views I've ever seen. Annapurna I, the 10th tallest mountain on Earth, is in the background.

Hiking from Seny park and Ten Reuken pond to Tournay-Solvaypark.

The monk parakeet (Myiopsitta monachus), also known as the Quaker parrot, is a small, bright-green parrot with a greyish breast and greenish-yellow abdomen. In most taxonomies, it is classified as the only member of the genus Myiopsitta. It originates from the temperate to subtropical areas of Argentina and the surrounding countries in South America. Self-sustaining feral populations occur in many places, mainly in North America and Europe.

One of the monk vultures at the Vivarium (zoo) in Darmstadt, Germany. Today he was close enough for me to get some good shots.

Taken through the wire, but the full view is still recommended.

Orginally from Argentina, the Monk Parakeet has made its home in south Florida many years ago. I remembered them in Coral Gables (Miami) back in the 70's. They are now here and in fact...my property. They are buildling this very large complete ball shaped nest across the street, but use my trees for materials. This nest is about 20 inches in diameter and they have been working on this things for a least 2 weeks.

Their size is 4 times larger than the standard parakket one would purchase in your local pet store.

About a couple of years ago..or more. I found the Black Faced Parakeet up north of me.

Davit (David) Gareja Cave Complex Lavra Monastery

A rock-hewn orthodox monastery complex with hundreds of cave structures tucked away into the mountainside, in the Kakheti region of Georgia on the border with Azerbaijan. The climate is often described as a semidesert.

Hundreds of cells, churches, refectories, and living quarters have been hewn into the rock face at the steep slopes of Mount Gareja. St David, an Assyrian Monk, founded the monastic complex in the 6th century and it was steadily expanded during the following centuries. The monastery complex has been an important centre of religious and cultural activity for hundreds of years and this reached its height between the 11th and 13th centuries. The monastery complex was always closely linked with the royalty of Georgia, but the downfall of the Georgian monarchy did not put an end to the monastic activities at Davit Gareja. Neither did the attacks by the Mongols in the 13th century, or the attacks of the Persians in the 17th century.

We were waiting for sunset at the Taj Mahal and in the same area there was a religious gathering and as the they broke up the monks came to view the Taj Mahal in the sunset.

Two novice monks at the morning market in Bago (Pegu). 80 kilometres from Yangon, Bago has a population of 220,000. It was once the capital of the early Mon Kingdom (1287–1539), which was the city's golden era when it was an important trading centre. Today, it is the country's second largest rice producer and home to its tallest pagoda, the Shwemawdaw Paya. (Brian K. Smith photo.)
