For this groupshow with Rotterdam' based artists, I printed all words commonly used to describe elements of the landscape used in GPS-technology (software) on the window of the gallery. In the gallery, I showed the book 'City of Imagination' that I had made in the week i Helsinki by from images that I made of and collected on Rotterdam. The book shown in Helsinki, will be shown in the show 'A Perfect Book', at the Amsterdam Centrum voor Fotografie, also from oct 11.....
The second part of this project; 'Art of Inhabitation- Modulations' will be opening at Pictura, Dordrecht on sat oct 11 at 17h! There I will show an adapted version of the slide installation 'City of Imagination' (also shown at Schielandhuis in 2007/2008). These works form the basic material for the Phantom City book.

An ATTiny13 microcontroller drives a 4-pin common-anode RGB LED, using software generated Pulse-width modulation.
I built this as a toy for my (then) 3yo son, who christened it his "Light Up Thingy".

Recently, I have been exploring my childhood from old photographs of myself, relating them to now and visa versa. I explored how to convey this by layering materials and techniques to represent the changes over a period of time and modulation of paint to show the movement of time within the piece. I also allowed an ice cube to melt on top of and drip down my final piece. The ice melting, to me, represents the progression of time and how an object can change dramatically in a certain space of time. By combining the techniques I created an idea and piece of work relating to myself, provoking emotions and a real sense of involvement in my work. I have created a triptych of drawings and painting which get progressively more intense.
Currently, I am exploring the theme of alchemy. I began by looking into changes in animals so visited a field of cows then a butchers’ fridge to document the changes in the cows’ life. As my work evolved I gained further interest in seeing what materials do in their natural state and the changes if combined. Through primary research, I created stains on paper to work from and enjoyed seeing what materials combined together can do. For example, I combined bleach with a metal primer and rinsed it under a running tap. The artist Alessandro Verdi caught my attention with his unusual surfaces and marks created. He combines unlikely materials together, such as charcoal with oil paint. I love the experimentation in his work; the fact you do not know the outcome of combining the mediums is what draws me in. I feel he has emphasised my want to be surprised by the outcome of my own work.

I was very impressed by another Photographers work.Taking a simple (usually overlooked) subject like weeds and producing mesmerizing images. for the real deal check out Wave of Modulation's work.

Played guitar for the first time in a while. I chose to use a little rotary modulation this time. It's a unique effect that originally was made with a swirling speaker (this amp does it digitally).

The closed loop repeats, the open loop fades away.
Both are subject to environmental modulations.
The sounds come from everywhere and are processed in real time by the microphone, computer, speakers, pipes and the room.

The works of Peruvian-French artist Bryan Ley (1988) sow confusion. Are we looking at photographs, or something else entirely?
