1:9 Halcyon Model Kit

This took way longer that I expected. Which seemed like a very straight forward assembly and easy paint, ended up as a very challenging and interesting kit.

I used a real tiny chain, since the molded one looked NOTHING like the movie prop. But overall, it's a very accurate model, I was surprised with the level of detail this guy has. My only complaint is his legs look kind of skinny... I'm not sure if Stallone's legs look like that, but they just seem a little off (just A LITTLE though, and this does not detract from the overall look)

Whatever you may think about the movie, you have to admit that the costume looks cool!

The air-landing "Helldiver" is built almost 100% out of the box - just some hydraulics were added inside of the opened air brakes on the lower legs, and the head received some hydraulic rams as added details.

Furthermore the cockpit hatch was with the pilot lifted high enough to have a look "out of the Labor's breast" - it's actually a 1:72 figure, but it's acceptable as a 1:60 Japanese person ;)

Painting was done with Tamiya Acrylics, and the kit slightly weathered/dusted.

The small diorama was built on a 8x8" base, with real wood pieces and real earth for the forest ground it is supposed to simulate. Additionally, some moss and foam leafs were used.

I found a very good deal for this guy.

I always wanted to own one of these kits!!

These are exact replicas from the original molds created by Stan Winston Studios (those maquettes originally created for Spielberg's approval and as reference for the 3D animators at ILM, I guess)

The model itself is HUGE, around 27" tall.

I'll post progress pics as often as I can.

Italeri Military Armed Pickup. Originaly this started as military kit, but I converted to civilian. Painted in matched Apple Green Factory color by custom mxing various Tamiya Acrylic paint. Wheels from Aoshima Hilux Lift up, tires from Tamiya1/32 4WD kit. Suspension is slightly raised to make it more realistic. Canvas top is scratch build using pla-plate and Tamiya Epoxy Putty, finiched in Dessert Yellow.

My brother built and painted this way back in 1963 and I've kept it all these years.

The instrument panel is the supplied decal. The side panels are painted with Alclad ALC304 Gloss Black Lacquer Base and spot painted different colors on switches and knobs.

I tried to capture the Ingram's size, but the angle is not that good..
