Here I am with my copy of Elgin Park by Michael Paul Smith. It arrived in yesterday's mails and I could not be more excited! I've been following Smith's fantastic model-making and photography for some time now, along with a gazillion others. As a one-time graphic designer let me say that they done the man proud.

It's a fine looking volume with great printing, nice heavy matte stock, easy to read and wonderful to peruse. I particularly like the photo of Michael at on on page 142. In closing, I cannot think of a guy who deserves this achievement any more than Michael. Way to go!

SpeedZone | Goliath 25/05/2020 12h58

The SpeedZone park section was renovated in 2020 as part of the Festivalization multi-year plan. And with a brilliant result.

The entrance and station building of Goliath has changed based on model building sets with parts that can be pressed out of a frame.

SpeedZone Renovation

Walibi Holland presented the renewed Speed Zone theme area to the general public on 25/05/2020. The park section with attractions such as Space Shot and Goliath has undergone a major renovation in recent months. The refurbishment is not yet completely finished: two of the five attractions are still closed.

"With the renovation, we are continuing to build on the image of Walibi Holland," says the park. "We incorporated speed, oil drums and burning rubber as elements to create that typical speed feeling."

The station building of the famous roller coaster Goliath got a new look, based on model building sets with parts that can be pressed out of a frame. On top of the photo house there are speed cameras. The square in front of the coaster was also tackled, including a newly designed entrance. The path to the attraction features guardrails with loops.

English cries and traffic symbols are on the floor. Gray and red are recurring colors throughout the area. That is also the new color scheme of the launch tower Space Shot. Several new decor pieces refer to fuel there. There is now a silver car on top of the tower. The adjacent mini-free fall tower Space Kidz is not yet operational.

This also applies to the G-Force enterprise mill. The thrill ride has yet to be put together. The attraction's control booth is filled with car tires and traffic lights. A gallery of payment games was renamed Game Street. Mission Control snack restaurant no longer recognizes visitors thanks to a new facade. New in the range: loaded frieze.

Refurbishing the Speed Zone is part of a multi-year plan to reform nearly all areas in the park. Main Street (2018) and Wilderness (2019) were previously covered. The project is called Festivalization.

Build update on the MU/TH/UR 6000 chamber - 1:18 scale - ALIEN 79. Been delayed with personal business but I'm back at it and getting close to finishing the small detailing of the wall panels. Each individual square it cut, placed then layered again with a smaller square. One at a time....and I'm almost done. YAY! #alien #MUTHUR6000 #diorama #custom #styrene #modelbuilding #scratchbuilding #nostromo #weylandyutani #aliencovenant

He explores for obvious reasons, for me it is the new world of flickr.

(Little something I made to honor the always querious cyber turkey's.)

This prototype is especially designed for its high-velocity, extreme manouverability and the capability of hovering and vertical flight, therefore it is very usefull for espionage, air combat and high speed chases.

The ship I've build is loosely based on some of the airplanes and spaceships from the "Trigan Empire" comic book series.

Scale model of London at The Building Centre, on Store Street. Here we're looking west, with Tower Bridge in the foreground, City Hall the "pointy-egg" shaped building on the field to the left of Tower Bridge, while the Tower of London is the ringed fortress just past Tower Bridge on the right bank, and the downtown City area beyond there.

The Union Central & Northern is a well-known freelance Hon3 model railroad layout based on the Colorado & Southern narrow gauge lines in Colorado. Its builder, Henry Brunk, spent three decades creating the railroad, and its year-to-year progress was chronicled in a column that appeared in the Narrow Gauge & Short Line Gazette. Wanting a permanent home for the layout, it has been donated to the Cheyenne Depot Museum for public display, and now occupies the 2nd floor baggage room. Some expansion and rearrangement of the trackage was necessary to fit the UC&N into its new display area (some of the work is being done under the direction Mr. Brunk himself). This is a terrific layout with many, many small details. I had a great time photographing the railroad – all shots were hand held at f22, using a Canon 17-40mm f4 and Canon 6D body. The photos don’t do the layout justice – it’s so perfectly detailed, and the scenery is so good, that it’s easy to get lost in a scene…I spend 10 minutes just looking at all the tiny details Mr. Brunk incorporated into one mine building.

Nostromo Corridor Update - 1:18 scale - ALIEN 79. Some of the first B deck corridor pieces - I think it's B Deck. It can get confusing sometimes. Where I am quite comfortable of my whereabouts on A, below that I can get lost. I know one thing...C deck is the basement...where the monster lives. Anyway, the detail is taken to a whole new level the deeper you go into the craft. I need to create some additional greeblie panel work while I go deeper. Lights will illuminate from the screened in boxes you see here. Additional tubing and details will be added. #alien #nostromo #corridor #greebliework #modelbuilding #sith_fire30

My LEGO model of the Detroit's Penobscot Annex is about 65% done. Due to a 1/3 reduction in household income during this recession, I have had to be more restrained in my spending on LEGO bricks; this has significantly slowed the rate of construction.

The first 14 floors are complete with another 2 partially finished. As you can see, the middle floors are rather plain. Fortunately, the top few floors do feature some classical details. When complete at 23 stories, it will be my 4th highest LEGO skyscraper after the Fisher , David Stott and (1928) Penobscot buildings.

The Penobscot Annex is the last of the five structures that make up my model of the Penobscot Block. You can see the rest of the block in the following photo:

final bit of the how to instructions on this Kato High Rise...

This is the final building I stayed with. I still need to detail the roof of the smaller building but I like how it ended up.

As you can see the building on the left ,the 5 story building, is reversed from the taller 15 story building. I did this because all the Kato and Tomix buildings of this nature all have the elevator windows on the left side of the building. In one building that's fine but in multiple and multiple buildings it looks bad and very repetative.

I turned this building upside down to bring the elevator windows next the same windows on the taller building. so that they are mirror of each other. It's not perfect but I did this by adding an extra roof section to the top of the base section. the problem with this is the roof doesn't have the extra material to cover the frontage like the normal 2nd floor section does. This is why I kept a piece of the material I had cut off from one of the 2nd floor sections. I ended up gluing it to the bottom of the roof section to cover the inset base section. It actually fit in perfect and blened all the gutter lines and looks really good.

In order for the roof to fit on the base section you need to shave off some extra materail on the lip as it's to thick to fit in place. Similar to how I shaved the front lip of the 2nd floor section to fit in with the other floors.

Once the roof was now glued into the base section the regular floor sections fit perfectly upside down into the roof section as that's how the fit in the roof section normally. Also by adding the roof section to the floor base it brings the windows up a little bit. This allows the elevator windows to almost be perfectly aligned but the regualer retangular windows are off a little bit. How ever I don't mind this too much. To me it gives the two buildings a little bit of individuality.

I also added an elevator machine room on the roof of the taller building. This was one of the extra elevator machine rooms from the tomix building. I'll be adding one of these to the smaller building too, but not until I detail it first.

Well that's the most of it. I hope you n scaler city modelers out there enjoy these. I have been asked to post how to photos by people.

In a favor back, feel free to comment on my photos. :D

All the best in your versions of these buildings. Kit bashing is always fun.

Build update to the MU/TH/UR 6000 chamber or "Mother" to the Nostromo crew - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale scratch build. Frame is primarily complete, with some additional structural pieces to be added, I'm ready to begin detail...panel by panel, square by tiny square. Also need some sculpting details to the portal. Talk about a test of patience.....oh well, I made this bed so I might as well sleep in it! LOL! - I'm actually going to begin work on the chair first, then a few panels...the I'm back at working on figures...I got some new ideas I will be sharing shortly as well as returning to some other, unfinished pieces that require my attention. Need to shuffle the deck every once in awhile. ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎nostromo‬ ‪#‎MUTHUR6000‬ ‪#‎diorama‬ ‪#‎scratchbuild‬ ‪#‎aliens‬ ‪#‎weylandyutani‬

I found 2 bricks of this mold:

trans light violet: number 11

trans light lemon yellow: number 12

Modern logo, mold pip on the short side, center line inside top surface , no frosted lines, mold number and letter T, Pat. pend, tiny markings.

Located on Calle Amargura, it was erected between the 15th and 16th centuries. This building has Gothic and Renaissance elements.

Its main façade follows the typology of most Cáceres palaces, with granite masonry highlighting the semi-circular arched doorway, large voussoirs reaching to the ground , a large image of Carvajal’s coat of arms framed in an alfiz, and a corner balcony under a pointed arch.

Inside the house, there is a rectangular cloister with arcades on columns.

Its twelfth-century round tower made of rough ashlars also stands out. At its base you will find the palace chapel, decorated with some interesting frescoes.

Recommendations: You must visit the garden, with a spectacular fig tree--a clear example of the interior green spaces that can be found today in these buildings in the Historic Centre.
