Lucked into timing this shot just right to have the gap in the alley filled not only with a person walking, but also a car driving through.
Shot on Pentax K1, SMC Pentax-DA 35mm F2.4 AL (full frame mode)
Hard to catch them diving as they are so fast. but it's crazy how they can almost fold themselves in to dive ,they have a strong reinforced skull to aid them too.
When I arrived just before sunset down at the Newport Pier a few weeks ago, I started shooting as soon as I hit the beach. The late afternoon light was fantastic and as I reached the shoreline, I was immediately struck by the incredible reflection coming off of that remarkably flat beach. As the clouds above turned orange, I began to try to frame the pier into my shot along with the incredible reflection which was literally all around me at this point. As I lined up the shot, a little boy, probably around 4 years old or so, bounced into my frame, just as I was about to take a bracket or two. At first, I immediately went into my frustrated photographer mode and began fuming at the parents behind him who neglected to tell him to get the heck out of the way of the nice man who was trying to bracket a set of shots before all the good light was gone. But before I actually had time to get really irritated, I saw his silhouette against the sand and instantly decided to include him in the frame. In this particular shot, it appeared as if he was literally reaching down to touch the clouds reflected all around him on the beach.
The take away for me here was the realization that sometimes you end up liking the shot you thought was ruined more than the shot you had originally composed.

Two modes of transportation meet at San Francisco's famous Fisherman's Wharf.
At left is a 1946-vintage PCC, in the shadows at right is a Waymo vehicle. Built from a Jaguar EV, its festooned with sensors that allow it to safely operate completely autonomously; they work basically like an Uber, and my wife and I used them several times.

What a time to be alive! I can die happy now :D
On a serious note, when folk have questioned my choice of the XH2S over the XH2 or XT5 (with their higher resolution sensors, 40mp vs my 26mp), my answer is that I'd rather take the XH2S's stacked sensor with better autofocus confidence. For those few images where I care about resolution I can simply use a tool like Enhanced Details (in LR) to enrich the pixel quality (which this image received). Have a zoom around, this is more than enough IQ for me here.
Happy Whiskers Wednesday!

Its been many years since this view was available, but Network Rail finally cut back the encroaching jungle at Hungerford Common in 2018. About time. Its a poor state of affairs when tree branches are hitting passing trains due to the neglect of basic lineside maintenance. There are places on the Berks and Hants where trees are growing in the cess, which must be affecting drainage

Here are the differen't arm positions, namely the mantis position, then the humanoid position, and finally a shot of the cockpit opened.
I wanted the build to look pilot-able even with the housing opened since the first thing I'd want after spending an eternity in cryo sleep is rolling down the window for some air.
