Had a little ride round after it brightened up this afternoon. This Kestrel hovered for me but @ a distance. At least in the hover mode I was able to hold the camera at full zoom just about
I decided to get back in the Flickr mode by choosing an easy subject.....no puzzling id'd juvie hawk, seasonally plumed shorebird or confusing warbler to research. Here at our feeder the easily recognizable Blue Jays quietly (surprising) sneak in and out of the feeder, grabbing a seed and leaving very quickly. I love to see their unique geometric pattern but never shoot them as I look for that rarity. This one was such a poser I couldn't resist! (Lots of work to do getting trip pics processed and catching up with all your photos since I've been away. I'll see and appreciate them all but leave comments on the recents!)

Object: SH2-284 in Monoceros in SHO (February 2024)
This is a widefield capture in Monoceros (the Unicorn) showing the primary target: SH2-284 which is a HII star forming region about 15,000 light years distant. The image was shot with narrowband filters and combined in the SHO palette which is also know as the Hubble Space Telescope palette (HST)
