Philadelphus is a genus of about 60 species of shrubs from 3–20 ft tall, native to North America, Central America, Asia and in southeast Europe. They are named "mock-orange" in reference to their flowers, which in wild species look somewhat similar to those of oranges and lemons at first glance, and smell of orange flowers and jasmine.

Itchin to post this, wall is nearly finished, should have the whole thing tomorrow afternoon!

Sometimes they tell you exactly what they think.

Common Mock Viper (Psammodynastes pulverulentus) - Danum Valley, Malaysia

This is an interesting little snake, called a mock viper due to its resemblance to dangerously venomous vipers. Infact, this snake is mostly harmless, it is rear fanged and does possess a weak venom but poses no danger to humans, however this doesn´t hold true for its prey species which are primarily lizards and frogs. I encountered this species several times, twice in lowland tropical rain forest but surprisingly also once in montane tropical rain forest at about 1600 m above sea level where it was quite cold at night. All of the individuals I encountered were about 1-1.5m above the ground on low vegetation or sticks. This snake is rather widespread throughout southeast Asia and found in a variety of habitats as even my own meager experience with this species shows.

Run that beat back,,,, even though i went back i still couldn't get away from the rain, but after staring at this thing for a week on my phone, i knew i could do better....

This is a mock fort on the grounds of Newstead Abbey in Nottinghamashire, England. Folly Castle or Forts were two follies built in Newstead Wood on either side of the lake by the 5th Lord Byron (Great Uncle of the poet Byron) in 1749. They are now privately owned.

Hi Everyone, long time no see. My latest large scale build for Bright Bricks. 1:30 scale Mock Tudor House. It took about 4 weeks to build, several bricklink orders and it almost took my sanity, so I hope you like it ;)

There are some WIP photos on my MOCpage. The interior is a mass of support columns and beams to stop it twisting. The lower part of the external walls are made from 1x2 plates, which look great but when stacked this high cause lots of problems. Technically 3 plates stacked on top of each other are actually slightly taller than a brick. It is only a fraction but it adds up. To combat this I built the inner skin from bricks and the outer skin with the plates, every third brick (9 plates) I tied the walls together. This technique is actually very similar to real life cavity wall construction. I knew that surveying degree would come in useful one day ;).

The hallway is visible from the main window at the front of the house so I needed to include some interior details. For the rest of the house I blocked the windows out so you can not see inside.

I enjoyed building this house but it did get tedious by the end. The split levels and the sheer amount of windows and doors was a nightmare. I had to figure out a design for all the windows/doors before starting. I must admit I am very pleased with the outcome especially the plate work on the ground floor and the window lintels – so much snot work it almost drove me mad. Most importantly the client was over the moon with it.

Thanks for looking :D

I had one of these growing outside of my home in Canada too. They smell just like oranges.

A sun dog or mock sun, formally called a parhelion is an atmospheric optical phenomenon that consists of a bright spot to one or both sides of the sun. It is commonly caused by the refraction and scattering of light from plate-shaped hexagonal ice crystals .

UVIVF photo of a mock orange flower.

Photographed in our garden.

Mock orange, Philadelphus, is an elegant, classic flowering shrub. It's long been been a garden favourite for its pure white blooms, which are deliciously scented and reminiscent of orange blossom. They appear in late spring and summer against a smart backdrop of dark green, often arching foliage.

Don't be fooled. The sun actually rose 8 minutes AFTER this image was taken. What appears as the sun is really a mock sun with a sun pillar vividly shining above it. This fire sky sunrise was captured in a widefield timelapse that I took: www.flickr.com/photos/79387036@N07/38720126255/in/photost...

Ok, craaaazy hot day in downtown bridgeport.... i had a huge spot to paint which i am more than grateful for, i really wanted to do a teched out piece, but the fact that i had to do the whole thing on a ladder, with a super unforgiving sun... That bitch went right up the alley way, completely at my back the entire time.... so i figured, keep it simple, or you'll regret it..... So i banged out another scripty piece which i had a shit load of fun paintin it, got to see a lot of good peoples i already know, and met some new ones as well.... Awesome day all around.... my apologies for anyone whose finished pieces i didn't flick, my brain was boiled by the end... On top of that i am already recoverin from some killer sunburn from July 4th......

Saturday night front derailleur braze-on fun. If I can, I mock it all up so it’s in the perfect position for the selected gearing...in this case a Campagnolo Athena compact double. #saturdaynight #brazeon #derailleur #campagnolo #athena #compact #chapmancycles

The Mock Orange Blossom has bloomed in the upper car park when I wasn't looking. I shall have to go over, if the sun comes out again and take some better photos. It's such lovely blossom.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)

A "practice" bridal shoot, where no Bridezillas are possible, with 2/3 professional models. After mostly bad weather, we were gifted with a double rainbow & an amazing sunset.

totally got the boot from momma nature on this one, we were here for about 3 hours when the sky completely opened up, and the gods saw fit to end our day.... pretty pleased with it over all, and if the wall hadn't been completely soaked we woulda pulled it together even tighter....
