I grew up fascinated by the X-15. While the speeds exceed Mach 6 were impressive, what really wowed me as the altitudes exceeding 300,000 feet and the use of peroxide rockets for attitude adjustment while flying outside most of the Earth's atmosphere.
Walking around the X-15 replica recently built for Pima by Guard-Lee and mated to 'The High and Mighty One' NB-52A mothership put me in that same mindset of fascination. Even though I knew it wasn't a real X-15, seeing this faithful replica mated to a very real launch plane was just so cool.

This is a picture of Phyllotopsis nidulans on the North Tract of the Patuxent Research Refuge near Fort Meade, Maryland.
I changed up my standard two light setup for this image so I wanted to show a diagram so it will make sense.
The major difference in this setup is I moved my accent light directly behind the model since I wanted the orange lighting to be more on both shoulders and the head as opposed to the accent being directional. I placed the light behind and higher than the toy, pointing it down at about a 45 degree angle, be careful though its real easy to have the softbox show in the black plexi's reflection, I usually just do a few test shots and adjustments till I get what I want.
The rest of the lighting is about the same, I keep both the main light and the reflector straight up and down,I usually place the main light about an inch or two higher than the black plexi, you still get good light but it tends to hide the dust a little bit better.
As for the background as per my normal setups the light doesn't hit the background so it goes nice and black.

The Embankment Hotel was built in 1891 but is a lovely example of Victorian 'mock Tudor'.

Sunlight and warm breezes dancing amongst choisya flowers. Scent in the air. Summer is here :)
Texture:
This plant blooms for a very short time in early summer. Its scent is intoxicating and can be smelled all over the garden. Its flowering time is too short but it is one of my favourites.

I grew up in Texas and this is the Texas State Bird. Probably the only bird safe from my BB gun at the time. Life was quite different back then.

Mock battles are the way the young rhinos prepare themselves for the real thing once they mature and have to fight for prime territories. We observed this pair of white rhinos for quite some time and they were still at it when we left.

Duchesnea indica, commonly called mock strawberry, in our backyard in Madison, Alabama. I have been told that crushing the leaves and rubbing them on a mosquito bite is a very effective way to relieve the itch.

I remember when a US president from Texas tried to say:
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
I must admit that for a moment "you" deserved some shame
(or credit for great fakery!); and then it was my turn....
