This was taken at Lilleshall Monument in Shropshire. Mock Sun's are created when the sunlight is refracted through hexagonal ice crystals in cirrus clouds. The crystals have to be in a certain orientation for this to happen, so it's not something you see very often! (Can you tell I was excited?)

Mini cardboard house, I guess for railway model trackside scenery. These ones have seen better days and fascinate me as a photographic subject. May do a side project in scale houses, need to work on the technique though.... perhaps a large format piece is in order, need greater D.O.F. Wonder if the antique shop will let me borrow them for the studio....

Striking white flower of the Mock Orange shrub. The fragrance is said to be like an orange blossom but I'm not sure.

Taken at the "Mock MVA" at Fox Chapel High School, Pittsburgh, 2003. The Mock MVA is an accident re-enactment designed to discourage drinking and driving at prom.
This mock orange used to live in my ex girlfriend's tiny back garden. After several years of not flowering, she got fed up with it, cut it back harshly, dug it up and gave it to me. It seems much happier outside my bedroom window :-)
This is a shrub in my garden, it has a good scent or nice smell. I think it is some kind of Mock Orange. It's just coming into flower and it has yellow honeysuckle tangled in it which isn't quite in flower yet.

A temporary installation on White Wharf
Rockport, Massachusetts
Utilizing the off-season resource of stored lobster pots found along the coast line, the temporary installation will provide a public room for the community and to visitors during the month of February.
The proposal is intended for day and evening habitation, for individuals and groups, for informal gatherings and private contemplation. Constructed of local lobster pots of various colors wrapped in cheesecloth and iced down nightly the pots engage the fundamental principles of prospect and refuge. During the day hours the pots and their scrim of iced cheesecloth form a homogeneous enclosure and through openings provide distant views to the horizon and slotted views back to town. In the evening the pots are illuminated with lamps contained within the pots and through the thin shell of ice, their glow
will reflect the various colors of the found pots.
Contributing to the form will be the daily cycles of freeze/thaw, patterns form due to exposure to, or lack of sun and wind. The final form of the installation following the month long installation will respond to, and be shaped by it’s micro-context.
My book calls this wildflower a Mock Strawberry (Potentilla indica). After reading some flickr discussions last night about identity of small yellow wildflowers with 5 petals, I spent my lunch break searching through the weeds and found two types, but not the ones discussed.
