Nine College of idaho students, each playing the role of a particular current justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, barraged local attorneys arguing the cases with questions during the College's mock court class in January 2013. Kerry Hunter, professor of political economy, started the course 18 years ago as a way to introduce students to the Supreme Court. When I noticed the text scratched into the corner of this 4X5 inch glass negative I thought it would tell me the name of the family and the date. Now I am not so sure. It reads: The "Mocking Family" IX.10.02
I do find a few references to Mocking as a family name but the use of the quote marks makes me wonder if it is a play on words. Is it the photographer's family and are they mocking him?
After I scanned he negative and reversed it to a positive I noticed that the man in the center of the front row is holding a 4X5 bellows plate camera. I made an enlarged scan of that portion.
