These conditions were responsible for the cancelled flight that should have taken me to warm and sunny Italy. Unfortunately, there was no airtraffic at all that day and my little vacation was cancelled in its entirety...

Once you get to the footbridge at the base of the Mist Trail, you're supposedly only .7 of a mile from Vernall Fall itself -- I'm not sure if that's the bottom of the fall, or the the overlook at the top.
In any event, it's still a good hike from here, up the somewhat steep and aptly named Mist Trail -- even though you can see the fall through the opening in the trees in the upper right.

From a bank above a marsh, you can sometimes see some expert fishing going on. The pools of water reflect the late light. The cool autumn evening air creates "witch water", while the dark purple shadows frame the action. The tops of the marsh grass turn rosy. The Great Blue cares for none of this. "What's for dinner?" has his attention.

Morning mist hanging outside and shot from a bedroom window. Doesn't look quite as impressive as it did IRL, simply because the cheap digital camera can't grasp the subtleties in light and shadow that where playing in the trees caused by the effect of the big light of the construction site and the mist.
Jock, we were on the beach and a mist or fog came in really, really quickly, it was very fast and you could see it coming. I took this picture, I know it is grainy not sure what I did to make that happen, but I had to make sure there was no flash and there was very little light. I really like this picture. It is simple and one of my favourites.
