Danika lost another tooth. While watching a movie, she smiles for the camera, showing off her new missing tooth.
Two years ago I started a tradition of taking a picture of my daughter on our front step on the first morning of school in September. I decided to duplicate it today, to document the last day of school. (Or the next-to-last day, at least. I wanted to do it this morning, just in case I forgot tomorrow morning--the actual last day of school--or we were running late.)
Not as much of a change over the last 9 months as I would have expected, actually….Just two missing front teeth and about two inches in height. =)

French custom to buy a galette des roi cake filled with marzipan filling that has a bean baked into it, and the one who gets the piece with the bean is queen for a day...Her royal highness Molly wore the crown at our family gathering
This little missing tooth caused some huge excitement yesterday. It's been wiggly for ages, and he was hoping it would fall out at school so he could get a "treasure chest' to save it for the tooth fairy. Sure enough, as he climbed in the car at the end of the day, he smiled a huge smile and it was gone! I didn't even get in the house before he was posing and I was snapping...during editing he saw this one and he said " I bet you just love my freckles a WHOLE LOT!" and I really do.

Had participated in an island expedition organized by Youth hostels last month and had an amazing time. Needless to say, had taken loads of pictures. Will keep uploading them.
This is one of my favorite pictures i had taken during the trip. There were small fishermen villages on the way and everyone was so damn friendly and warm. This lady started to laugh as soon as i pointed my camera at her! Love the way she laughed, uninhibited and whole hearted.
Lost his 1st tooth!! He was eating spaghetti and said, "mom, I swallowed something really really crunchy?!" He cried because he had nothing to give the tooth fairy, so he wrote her a note...she honored it..generously!!

Just a couple of days after Hannah lost one of her central incisors, the other one wiggled free, too, for the classic "All I want for Chrithmath" grill.
Used this texture by Pink Sherbet.
I managed to convince my nephew to pose for me after his birthday. To get his attention I asked him what did he think about his grandparents. A long stream of consciousness flowed for about 30 minutes.

AAW January 2014 - New
January starts us into 2014, so for this month, the assignment revolves around "new". It could be a new years resolution, or something new out of the box. Use your imagination.
No restrictions, no dares, be creative!!
WIT: I racked my brain all month to find something "new" that might possibly compare to the wonderful gift of new life in children. Then "H" finally lost her third tooth, but the most obvious one. (Her other tooth was gone within 12 hours but I think this picture has more impact.) In post, I did the usual straighten and crop (missing tooth on the third line intersection). I also did a dodge on her eyes to lighten them.

in the playground after school yesterday. I asked her to smile and she pulled this face. She felt she needed to over compensate in order for her gap to be seen by the viewers on Flickr. Humour her. UPDATE next day: She just called to say her other tooth came out after school on the bottom. Guess the tooth fairy will be needing to make a trip to the bank!
