yep...that's her first missing tooth

Dr. Sadineni replaced one upper front tooth with a titanium Nobel Biocare dental implant and porcelain crown to match the color and shape of her natural teeth.

I managed to convince my nephew to pose for me after his birthday. To get his attention I asked him what did he think about his grandparents. A long stream of consciousness flowed for about 30 minutes.

I'm so grateful that I have grandchildren, and healthy ones at that. I love to hear their little voices call me by my best name, "Grama!"

This is 5 yr. old Hudson (grandson #2) who's lost his first tooth. He's the boy with a million expressions and still doesn't mind having his picture taken!

This shot is blurry (taken at night w/o flash) but I love his little face! The night of this shot he ended up in the ER with compacted bowels. Poor little guy was hurtin' for certain!

Mui Ne, Vietnam

Awwwwww! One of the of the Fairy Stream tour guides- this little girl helped me carry my luggage all the way down the river.

This just in, by popular demand the Mui ne tourism association has changed the name of the Fairy Stream to the ferocious river of death and scorpions...

Two years ago I started a tradition of taking a picture of my daughter on our front step on the first morning of school in September. I decided to duplicate it this week, to document the last day of school and compare the changes. Here she is, on the actual last day of school…wearing the same outfit for good measure. =)

Not as much of a change over the last 9 months as I would have expected, actually….Just two missing front teeth and about two inches in height. =)

Six years old. Video-game pro. Computer geek. Little fish. Loser of baby teeth. Amazing super reader. Kissy-booth operator. Music lover. Ant collector. Giver of the best hugs & stealer of my heart.

To say that I adore this little guy is a massive understatement. He’s a special kid. And my baby. I know I’m way, way overprotective of him, but that’s my job. Protecting him from a big world he doesn’t always understand. Gently guiding his way. It’s been a rough ride this year. It’s tough when they start tossing labels at your kid. More about that later maybe. But I can say we’ve come through the year pretty damn well all said. Enormous progress has been made. He’s learnt so much. Onward and upwards.

Just about the cutest gap ever!!!

Yay!!! He finally lost his first tooth.

Kieran has lost his first tooth. Here is his angry dino face...which was the only way I could get him to agree to photos of it.

My little buddy showing off the gap where his first tooth had fallen out. He was very proud. It actually fell out in the pool when he was doing swimming lessons at school and he managed to catch it in the water. The tooth fairy was extra kind for that one ;-)

Eight years, one month, and twelve days. Finally, Sydney's first tooth is out. And it had to be extracted. It was loose for a while and the gums around it were starting to get infected, so the dentist pulled it out.

Showing off his missing tooth - for some reason though, most of his photos at the moment have him with his eyes shut... most frustrating!

this hurt for weeks. They used a chisel and a mallet to break of bone in the back of my jaw and reattatch it to the cavity up front. Pulled all my gums back to get the job done. These are dark times.

Not sure why I didn't post this one when I took it two summers ago, but I can't leave it out. She is shining in this image. Simply shining. She doesn't get her moment in the sun very often, but look how brilliant she is when she does. I'm looking forward to more days like this one very soon!

This Ren Faire "participant" was involved with a comedy act using mud.

This tooth feel out during her 6th birthday party. She cried for a bit, but it didn't stop her from having a good time.

Isn't there a certain right of passage that comes with the thread around the tooth trick?
