But someone asked to see the hole where the tooth used to be, so I'm complying.

This was one of the trickier photos I've ever taken, by the way. Standing at my bedroom window for some nice diffused light with a mirror in one hand reflecting the display on the back of my camera, upon which I had mounted my manual-focus macro lens, trying to move the camera back and forth to find the sweet spot of the focus while holding my mouth open and my tongue out of the way. Positioning a mirror to see the right part of your body is one thing, trying to figure out how to tilt the object in your other hand to show the right place when all you can see is it backwards in a mirror is another.

Anyway, this is as good as it got. That's where my tooth used to live.

I wonder what this piece was originally--teeth aren't the right shape for a gear; could it have been used for crushing something like sugarcane? Obviously missing a tooth

Getting ice cream to celebrate loss of the first tooth

Owen lost his first tooth, and he wrote a note to the tooth fairy asking for a squirt gun. The tooth fairy delivered.

In a previous post (7 posts back) I photographed this cute little girl eating strawberries with her family at the Subdued Stringband Jamboree. At the time I debated which photo I liked best and posted the first one. I've had second thoughts and I think I like this image better, Any thoughts??

How he could have just swallowed the tooth while eating breakfast completely escapes me.

This tooth was hanging by a thread for weeks!

Yep. It came out.

Blog post about the moment, how I felt like a shit mom (again), and how I'm not.

I bet they look nothing like the ones they show on tv. "Text [hot stuff] to 800-hot-girl for a good time" Yeah right that they look like this. Somehow they have to keep the cost down there and they probably don't want to pay their employees too much.

Go here! You won't regret it!

... but he couldn't throw it at me, because I had the camera.

Said camera does not prevent me from throwing snowballs however.

Another day at home for the rascals. The roads are cleaned regularly, even up our remote hill, but nevertheless this morning they were coated with a thick layer of ice. MrMV retreated.

I had oral surgery (again) and this time the oral surgeon extracted the tooth that I've been trying to move for the last 5 months. I hate to give up on it, but I'm also very glad to get out of 2 more years of orthodontic discomfort. The down side, of course, is that I cannot afford an implant to replace my canine, so I will have to get a bridge or a temporary tooth.

This time I had the surgery under anesthesia, which was well worth the extra $200, since the surgery involved peeling back my gums. Yuck.

I'm not so good at pulling focus. I know.

We always tell people we love having extra time to play around during the wedding day - you get little mini-fun shots like this one when you have extra time to just simply play!!! This was one of quite a few fun faces during his mini-shoot while his mom was getting ready!

She lost her front tooth this weekend (on Saturday), and I just LOVE the cute gap-toothed stage! The other is JUST about ready to fall out too. I served corn on the cob for lunch today hoping it would pull it out...but nope she only took a small bite!!

Danika lost her sixth tooth. This is her forth in a matter of weeks. She wants more than her two front teeth now!

Simple portrait from my daughter.

Sydney is all smiles. But she cried when the dentist pulled it out. He numbed her, but didn't wait for it to fully kick in before he pulled it.
