Missing my hometown, this place was literally where I grew up with in my youth, as my parents' house was only one block away. This is one of the historic places there.
The legends goes, if you will:
"Fort Provintia or Providentia was a Dutch outpost on Formosa at a site now located in the West Central District of Tainan in Taiwan. It was built in 1653 during the Dutch colonization of Taiwan. The Dutch, intending to strengthen their standing, sited the fort at Sakam, about 2 miles (3.2 km) due east from modern-day Anping.[1] During the Siege of Fort Zeelandia (1662), the fort was surrendered to Koxinga,[2] but was later destroyed by an earthquake in the 19th century. It was rebuilt as Chihkan Tower (Chinese: 赤崁樓; pinyin: Chìkǎnlóu; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Chhiah-khám-lâu) afterwards.[when?]
The fort's name derives from the Taiwanese aboriginal village recorded by the Dutch as Sakam,[a] which has developed into the modern-day Tainan. After growth in size and trade, the Chinese called it Chhiah-kham, and surrounded it with high brick walls. It eventually became the capital of the whole island under the name of Taiwan-fu.[1]
In addition to the site's architectural and artistic significance, its library of dictionaries and business transactions documents the Siraya language spoken by the native inhabitants of the region during Dutch rule.
at this time of year i pine for the lethal toys of yore. darts with points, the original mister potato head, barbie and her torpedo breasts. where's the fun, as jean shephard would say, if you can't take an eye out?

To me, this is the best season to visit Provence….Unfortunately, I can’t go there this year…But, every night, when I lay down on my bed, I smell it thanks to the Lavender Pillow that I’ve got from one of the smallest villages in Provence…. To the memory of my lovely Provence, I initiated a new photo series: Missing Provence. Living in the present and being mindful of life's moments is beneficial...but longing for flowers and bees in the middle of winter is human.
Northbound loaded rock train 336 arrives at City Point with a pair of Champion painted SD40-2s providing the power for the train.
FEC 714 is easily the worst looking champion painted SD40-2 on the roster. It's paint is faded and it's missing its nose logo. In addition to the paint, the units bell is fairly weak and it wears a K3LA instead of an RS3L or P3 like others on the roster. I can't really complain too much though since it's definetely better than a GEVO.

Mountains, sun, blue sky, skis and snow and fresh corduroy ... there is so much to LOVE in this photo. Summer here in NZ though now - a few more months before we can do THIS again here. Lovely to revisit these memories though :-)
