22/52 weeks of dogs..........to my flickr friends...my mom, twyla's gram, thursday was moved into a private room...day by day she getting a little stronger... the battle is far from over though....your prayers and concerns overwhelm me....our family is so touched each and everyday..........
We have permanent daylight these days, so we can't see Earth surface when night on Earth. Missing orbital sunrises!

Thats me x 2 and Lou composited with a spooky house I found in Kegworth (apologies to the owners!) and bear heads from one of those coin operated kids' rides. And that doll is actually a Goldilocks doll from a kit we sell at work.
There seems to be a bit of a theme developing in my photos: bears & replacement heads - I wonder what psychological meaning that has? ;o)

Beautiful colorful grass somewhere between Jasper Lake and Hinton (Alberta) - it was a hot, sunny day in the fall.
Missing it again just a little bit, looking back at these photos. It'd be nice to be there today, walking around looking at all the desert-type plants and wildlife with all that water behind. An interesting juxtaposition...
(Try to map something in the new flickr and you get "We’re hard at work redesigning our brand new photo experience" - and basically, you can't do that here.
It's brand new, not working, and already being redesigned?
I'm so impressed.)

But still cruising and getting around fine. I'd much rather have them missing a leg or having a chunk taken out of their shell (like a different one I saw) than the massive tumors that were covering a large number of green sea turtles about 5 years ago. Happy to say on my last two trips to Maui I did not see a single turtle with those tumors!

It has been awhile... somehow all my attempts to end my "ghost state" here have failed ;-) and I'm very sorry about that!! I definitely miss you and your work! And I always learned so much from you...! Therefore I'll try to appear at least from time to time, probably it won't be possible to comment on your work and to post my stuff regularly - or as regular as it has been in the past - but we'll see ;-)...
I'm going to post two iPhone videos, one (mostly) of SF, one of AZ (Phoenix, Sedona, Flagstaff...) where I've spent 2,5 weeks in May.
And I definitely left my heart on this side of the world.......... (and 3 min. aren't long enough for sentimental memory videos, btw. :-))..!!).

S.: Just looked at the videos on flickr and am definitely shocked and a bit frustrated and sad about the bad quality! Not sure how much they have compressed them, but the difference to the original ones is immense... I'm very sorry... I wouldn't have posted them in such a bad quality, especially the time lapse parts are totally blurred... thanks a lot for your kindness and encouragement despite that, my dear flickr friends... how good that I've taken more than 2000 pics with my camera during my time there :-)...... :-))
Abstract simplicity of a random observation during a recent morning out with the family. The nails in the wall are actually used with wire to hold up plants and climbers.
Former 'Thameslink' Class 319 units 319372 and 319373 are seen leaving their old stomping grounds behind as 47815 hauls them to Long Marston for storage.

I'm slowly editing my way through photos from my recent trip to Paris and realising how much I want to go back.
This very handy filter case came with a Contaflex that I acquired long ago. I no longer have the camera, but I kept the case and the filters.
You will notice that there is one missing. That's right; it was like that when I got it. I do have a skylight filter, but that came in its own separate little case. I also have the four Proxar lenses, but those should go in a case of their own. (BTW, I have the whole Proxar set twice, in case anyone is interested).
All of these filters are for black and white film photography. I have to explain this because the digital generation likely will not know.
The yellow and the orange one are very useful. A yellow filter will enhance contrast and an orange filter will make a cloudy sky a lot more interesting. The green one, which I find distinctly less useful, will enhance the detail and nuances in a picture that is full of different greens, such as a forest scene.
But the one filter I am missing is a red or dark red filter. A red filter has a similar effect to an orange filter, but much more so. It will filter out the blue light, so a blue sky will look very dark and the clouds will look very dramatic. You want to use this effect sparingly, like all strong effects should be used sparingly. But if the scene is right, then a red filter will make a world of a difference.
I haven't seen a red or dark red filter on the market so far. I mean: not those that are made by Zeiss Ikon (and they are beautifully made!) for the Contaflex.
