Yesterday was low sunday and two of our daughters had their First Communion. We had a big family feast afterwards and this was the dessert:

 

Chocolate nuggets (made from dark chocolate, cream and brownies) on peach and raspberry fruit sauce.

 

Even though I was the cook I have to say it was delicious...

Die Zaubernuss steht in den Startlöchern.  Aber auch der Baldrian, die Katzenminze, der Apfelbaum und die Erbeerminze sind schon sichtbar aktiv. Nur meine geliebte Apfelminze scheint noch zu schlafen. Obwohl ich sicher bin, dass tief unten im Topf schon richtig was los ist.

So @citysandra on twitter posted this photo which I thought looked absolutely delicious, but as it turned out can't be eaten because it's soap. I then decided to make an edible version out of mint sorbet, and yes, it tasted absolutely delicious :)

Recipe:

Mix 250g of sugar with 300ml of water.

Bring to a boil until the sugar is dissolved.

Simmer for about 2 minutes without stirring.

Let it cool down a bit.

But the syrup into a blender and add 60g of fresh peppermint leaves.

Blend it completely.

But into fridge for at least 2 hours.

Add 150ml of fresh lemon juice.

But it into the freezer in an open container.

Stir the mixture occasionally with a fork.

It should be done after 5-6 hours.

By now it is in the freezer, photos of the finished product tomorrow :)

Insekt (Wespe?) labt sich an Pfefferminzbl짥 (Mentha - Lamiaceae)

  

I had planned to make Meeta's Hyderabadi Lamb Biryani last Sunday but did not get all ingredients (above all lamb leg).

While I got some spices in a small Asian shop last week in Bonn, I finally was able to buy lamb leg yesterday in a large supermarket.

 

As the meat has to marinate over night I prepared it today. Here's what I needed:

- lamb leg, cut into cubes

- greek yoghurt

- ginger

- garlic (oh well, forgot to place on the tray)

- chilis

- garam masala

- turmeric powder

- coriander and mint

Bereits letzten Sonntag wollte ich ja schon Meetas Lamm-Biryani aus Hyderabad machen, hatte aber nicht alle Zutaten bekommen (vor allem keine Lammkeule).

Während ich letzte Woche in Bonn in einem kleinen Asia-Shop die fehlende Gewürze bekam, konnte ich gestern endlich Lammkeule in einem großen Supermarkt erwerben.

 

Da das Fleisch über Nacht marinieren muß, habe ich heute schon soweit alles vorbereitet. Hier sind die Zutaten:

- Lammkeule, in Würfel geschnitten

- griechischer Joghurt

- Ingwer

- Knoblauch (vergessen, auf's Brett zu legen)

- Chilis

- Garam Masala

- Kurkumapulver

- Koriander und Minze
