Pictured here resting on some lavender. However, we are growing some mint nearby, so perhaps that's what attracted it.

The stone marker is outside of North Georgia College and State University Price Memorial Building in Dahlonega Georgia. Founded in 1837 the mint produced over six million dollars in gold coins. The coins are now very valuable to coin collectors. The state of Georgia took control of the mint after Georgia withdrew from the union in early 1861. The mint was not only used for just making coins and such. During the time of war the mint was occupied several times by military troops. U.S Calvary occupied it and were then “promptly replaced by a platoon of infantry soldiers commanded by Lt. Zimmerman.” The mint was also used as a military jail, barracks, and headquarters. The mint building was also used as a schoolhouse for educating the African American members of the community. In April of 1871 the mint title was again turned over, this time to the Board of Trustees of the North Georgia Agricultural College. The mint was very badly burned in a fire in December of 1878. The stones of the old Dahlonega Mint are now the foundation of what is Price Memorial Building at North Georgia College & State University.

There's quite a ritual to the mint tea consumption in Morocco.
First of all, it requires time. You must sit down, and take your time over tea to chat with your host.
Second of all, it requires a steady hand. When the tea is poured, it's done so from a great height. The first glass is poured out, then returned to the pot to be mixed further. All glasses are then filled, and after a hearty 'Bsahah' (to your health) toast, you sip the sugarey liquid slowly.

How mint manages every Winter to worm it's way underground, a submerged trellising, I don't know. The telltale roots sprout up in Spring, the smallest shoots of bright green leaves all in a line, so I know where to pull them out - so they don't take everything over. The woody roots smell so fresh and good, and since there are no more daffodils to pick, they make the grade for counter top decoration...
iPhone-friendly interface for Mint, awesome, but some of the buttons or click area is too small.

The Perth Mint, 310 Hay Street.
We did a tour, handled full size replicas of some early Western Australian nuggets, watched gold being poured into a mould and saw commemorative coins being made.

This is a 10oz bundle of plain, mint green, kimono silk panels. I believe these are kinsha silk. The fabric was left over from making a kimono remake. There are three rectangular panels and a number of irregular pieces. Though it is difficult to measure these irregular pieces, there are a couple of rather large pieces, so there is a fair bit of usable fabric in them. A couple of the irregular panels have some small leaf and flower patterns that are still visible on. One or two of these patterned portions may still be usable depending on the type of craft they are used for. There is a section on one piece that is undyed. Some marks and the stamps of the weavers / dyers can be see on this section A couple of the smaller panels are also a slightly darker green than the large panels, this is because parts of the original kimono gradated into a darker green. The fabric can be used for many types of crafts.
