MORRIS MINOR- MINOR 1000 [NOT IN GREAT CONDITION]
As you can see from the number plate this dates from 1964 a year before the church where it was parked was built
I have not seen a Morris Minor for many years and unfortunately this one was in very poor condition.
The Morris Minor is a British car that made its debut at the Earls Court Motor Show, London, on 20 September 1948. Designed under the leadership of Alec Issigonis, more than 1.6 million were manufactured between 1948 and 1972 in three series: the MM (1948 to 1953), the Series II (1952 to 1956), and the 1000 series (1956 to 1971).
Initially available as a two-door saloon and tourer (convertible), the range was expanded to include a four-door saloon in 1950, a wood-framed estate car (the Traveller) from October 1953 and panel van and pick-up truck variants from May[5] 1953. It was the first British car to sell over a million units and is considered a classic example of automotive design.
An old Morris Minor flywheel shown mounted on a backplate in a Myford ML7 lathe. The flywheel was being used to carry a clutch in another machine that was being modified, so the starter ring was removed as it wasn't needed anymore – the overall diameter of the flywheel is 9.75", so it just fits in the gap of the lathe bed. The two dowels that locate the clutch assembly had to come out as they would have hit the bed. As they were pressed into blind holes in the flywheel I had to drill a knock-out hole from the otherside to get a punch behind each dowel.
This belong to the chap next door.
He has owned this car since 1970 after buying from a Colchester based newspaper where it was a errands car for £30.
It is still taxed and moted and used everyday.
A standard Scarab Minor with the optional high-pressure street-wash spraybar, which is adjustable from the cab for height and angle. Couldn't grab a driver so had to do it myself, hence the Photoshopped flare added to the windscreen to obscure the fact that the cab is empty. Water sprays and damped surface were shopped too.
We went to Lake Pleasant for the day with friends. We had a blast. This raft/tow behind is awesome. Even I rode! (we all have the sore arms to prove it)
Thanks Nottinghams!

I eat very little in the way of junk food but I will occasionally weaken and hit the 3 for 2 at Tesco so that I can have one chocolate bar a day as I drive home after a day of flying.

'Molly the Minor', a mobile advert for the 'Isle of Wight Pearl', a family owned and run business which has called the IoW home for almost 30 years. This Morris has a good few miles more on it's proverbial clock though, first registered in 1964.
At Deadman's Crossing -- MP BE 93.5 -- Q217 made an unscheduled stop. The battery knife switch on the lead unit somehow became loose and opened on its own, causing a loss of some control functions. 20 minutes and a plastic zip tie later, they were back on the move.
