Ulmacée à écorce d'abord lisse, puis profondément fissurée, brun foncé (cf. la photo). Feuilles caduques, alternes, simples, obovales à ovales de 2-10 cm, à dents aiguës (2 fois dentées), dissymétriques à la base avec d'un côté une oreillette arrondie soudée au pétiole. Inflorescence en glomérules denses et sessiles apparaissant sur l'écorce des rameaux de l'année précédente, nettement avant les feuilles (comme d'ailleurs l'infrutescence, les samares, mais non visibles ici). Périgone à 4-5 tépales verdâtres de 5-6 mm. 4-5 étamines pourpres, très saillantes, opposées aux tépales et dressées dans le bouton. 2 styles divergents avec stigmates généralement blanchâtres. Samares de 1,5-2 cm, à aile glabre, atténuée en coi à la base, à graine située au dessus de son centre.
Autres noms français : Ipreau, Orme cilié ou rouge (du fait de la couleur de son bois, brun rougeâtre), Ormeau (Petit orme, traduction littérale de son nom scientifique), Tortillard (quand sa tige est tortueuse), Yvet. Espèce postpionnière, sciaphile, ubiquiste, des sols enrichis en base et en azote, à large amplitude hydrique (cf. H des Abbayes, Nouvelle flore de la Belgique..., P Fournier, P Jauzein).

Birds are small to large, warm-blooded, egg-laying, feathered, bipedal vertebrates capable of powered flight (although some are secondarily flightless). Many scientists characterize birds as dinosaurs, but this is consequence of the physical structure of evolutionary diagrams. Birds aren’t dinosaurs. They’re birds. The logic & rationale that some use to justify statements such as “birds are dinosaurs” is the same logic & rationale that results in saying “vertebrates are echinoderms”. Well, no one says the latter. No one should say the former, either.
However, birds are evolutionarily derived from theropod dinosaurs. Birds first appeared in the Triassic or Jurassic, depending on which avian paleontologist you ask. They inhabit a wide variety of terrestrial and surface marine environments, and exhibit considerable variation in behaviors and diets.

An old Morris Minor, took many photos at different angles and i think this gives a old feel to it at this angle.
AKA I've been living with a noisy and dirty construction pit at the end of my street for 2 years and all I got was this lousy street sign... does go with my decor!
July 22-24 was the 13th Annual International Sand Sculpting Festival at Revere Beach... America's Oldest Public Beach.
You can see some minor signs of damage to the sand sculptures... because late Saturday afternoon/early Saturday evening we had some thunderstorms come thru here and Revere Beach got hit with some heavy rain and some pea sized hail.
Like last year... they had 10 "Solo" (just 1 person worked on them) sand sculptures and 5 "Duo" (2 people worked on them) sand sculptures.
The centerpiece sand sculpture was done by most of the sculptors taking part in this event.
