Well I thought that I would do this miniplanet to celebrate completing processing the full scheme of stained glass at Saint Edmund's, Falinge near Rochdale.

Here's a link to the full scheme in one photo

Saint Edmund's, Falinge near Rochdale - is a real tour-de-force. Built in the 1870's for £28,000 (when a good church cost £4000). It is a Masonic Church and Pevsner says that it has symbolism to rival the Da Vinci Code Rosslyn Chapel. I am photographing the interior because it is due to close soon. "Almost every fitting and feature has reference to the Lore of masonry." Says Pevsner. The listing also states - Internally and externally such reference extends not only to the front, lectern and communion rail but to roof trusses, stained glass and more abstract qualities such as proportions which are said to relate to those of Solomon's temple Listed Grade II* - THIS BUILDING SHOULD BE LISTED Grade I

This is a mini-planet (polar panorama) made using the same images I used from my regular panorama from this location, just processed in a different way.

On Saturday February 21st the Enchanted Rock state natural area celebrated it's designation by the International Dark Sky Association as a Gold Tier Dark Sky Park with it's first Enchanted "Rock Star" Festival.

As part of the celebration there was a "moon-less" night hike to the top of the Rock during which I had a chance to take the 12 photos I used for this image. You can see the regular panorama at: www.flickr.com/photos/zerocem/16447721248/

My first attempt at making a "mini planet" in Photoshop...!

Otra versión de las fotos que me traje del viaje a Monfragüe, aprovechando que tenia un 360º , con un par de fotos mas que saqué de la zona del cenit conseguí completar toda la bóveda celeste .

Sunrise AND sunset in one picture. 2 x 360° = 720° - So you see everything two times: On the right side at sunrise and on the left side at sunset - 16 hours difference in one pano picture.

Two equirectangular hdr panographies (converted to 16 bit) from the same scene at different daytimes composed in one picture and projected as a little planet .... It looks very simple, but it was hard work for my brain and my PC....2001 there was no mathmap existing. "just" Dersch......

It's life, Seamus, but not as we know it....

A miniplanet based on this HDR Panorama of the town.

The stars in the background came from a shot I took of the Milky Way last year. The 'planet' effect was achieved by using Photoshop's 'Polar Coordinates' filter on the panorama shot mentioned above. If you'd like to have some fun trying this yourself, there's a great tutorial here.

I created this in photoshop elements using the 6-photo panorama shown below...

Here's a link to a step-by-step tutorial. It's actually pretty easy to do if you have a decent landscape or panorama shot to start off with.

This new 360 degree panoramic camera takes some really cool interactive images that can be viewed online, on a desktop, or on a smartphone, with the accompanying software. However, I am loving the static "mini planet" images than you can make with just a few tweaks in Photoshop!

Expect more of these! :P

I boosted the colors a bit and used a program called Artizen HDR, Panoramic Conversion - Mirror Ball tool to create the mini-planet

A nice area at Coventry University

Using the free Hugin to stitch and project. Six shots with Falcon manual 8mm fish eye.

This started out as a standard HDR pano...but frankly it was a bit dull ;-) I wondered what would happen if I made this into a mini planet, even though I had only taken about 180 degrees of images...well, seems you don't need the full 360 degrees after all!

these days i'm experimenting again with planets and hdr. there's a lot of techniques to learn, and i'm searching a sort of standard workflow for my tastes/equipment.

for example i have always some difficulties to do 360panos + hdr with the sigma 4,5mm because of the black around the circle. but today i've tried to merge to hdr first, but without tonemapping, then stitched the .hdr files together in a single hdr panorama, and only at the end, to tonemap the whole panorama. seems that the results are not bad

A view of our beautiful town of Stornoway, as seen from Gallows Hill last summer.

This horizontal panorama consists of 3 panes, with each pane being a 3 shot HDR.

HDR work in Photomatix, then merged to panorama in Photoshop. Cropping and development in Lightroom. Finally trimmings added in Photoshop.

The end result is over 10000 x 3000 pixels.

Finally, I made a MiniPlanet version of this panorama here.

The best 12 of these mini Planets, made up of 20 - 100 individual images, meticulously stitched to create this surreal world, are collated together in this spectacular full calendar wall calendar.

We have raised over $300 for the "Heather Bradley Memorial Trust", and we hope to build on this total this year with $2.50 of every calendar sold going to the trust at the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation (Victoria, Australia). The fund not only honours the loving memory of my sister, but it also provides a source of income to assist bereaved parents following the death of a child.
