Terlingua is a "ghost Town" located just outside the west entrance to Big Bend National Park. It was founded in the 1880's as a mining town. Today it caters to tourists.

Just before the rather scary drive on Red Mountain Pass (but after the scary drive on Coal Bank Pass). I wouldn't want to live in Silverton ever, but ESPECIALLY not in the winter!

This "structure", or what is left of it, is a result of the mine shafts that have collapsed, and continue to collapse underneath this wonderful western town.
Inside of one of the house's. I wonder what life was like living here many many years ago. It had to have been a hard life, but they appeared to have all the modern conveniences of that time-frame.

This is Silverton Colorado an old mining town with personality. There are beautiful mountains, lots of eateries and shopping. We stayed at the Wyman Inn. Enjoyed the 4 PM tea and pastries and the 5 PM wine and cheese... Great place to hang your hat for the night, cowboy!

The rush to the 'Silvery Slocan' began in 1891 when vast amounts of silver ore were discovered in this region of south central British Columbia. Within a few years, Sandon was a bustling town of over 5000 people. Today, it is almost a ghost town.
