This depot served two railroads: the Las Vegas & Tonopah Railroad and the Tonopah & Tidewater Railroad.
Oatman is a funky little tourist town, located in the rugged hills near Laughlin, Nevada. It was founded in the early 1900's and was a prosperous gold mining town. Route 66 went right through town. The mines closed, Route 66 was re-routed and Oatman became a Ghost Town. It's has recently be re-discovered, and it's main street today is clogged with tourists and wild burros.
This is Silverton Colorado an old mining town with personality. There are beautiful mountains, lots of eateries and shopping. We stayed at the Wyman Inn. Enjoyed the 4 PM tea and pastries and the 5 PM wine and cheese... Great place to hang your hat for the night, cowboy!

The Boise County Courthouse was built in 1871 as a general store. It was purchased by the County in 1909, and has served as the County Courthouse ever since.
Idaho City was founded in 1862 after gold was discovered in Boise Basin. It quickly became the largest city in the Pacific Northwest. Today tourism is the main business in Idaho City.
The rush to the 'Silvery Slocan' began in 1891 when vast amounts of silver ore were discovered in this region of south central British Columbia. Within a few years, Sandon was a bustling town of over 5000 people. Today, it is almost a ghost town.
Silverton Museum is located in the old gaol buildings. Silverton was established in the 1880s after miners came to the region seeking silver. Lead and zinc was also found in the region. Most miners moved on to the larger centre of Broken Hill nearby and Silverton gradually dwindled towards becoming a ghost town. It has been maintained as a tourist destination. Located in far western New South Wales in Australia.

Honoring Black Pioneers of Julian
33 of the 55 black residents listed in the 1880 U.S. Census for San Diego County, lived in the Julian area. First to find gold was Fred Coleman in 1869. A creek, a mining camp and a toll road bear his name. Albert Robinson and wife Margaret founded the Hotel Robinson, now the Julian Hotel. America Newton, a laundress, owned 80 ac. adjacent to the grade that bears her name. The four black pioneers buried in the Julian Cemetery are Albert Robinson, America Newton, Susan Tull - Margaret's mother and Margaret's daughter, Martha Boyd.

CORVA was in Randsburg for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend... & so were Steve & I snapping pic's . It's a great weekend to see lots of different people, bikes & off road vehicles. Families & clubs come together to share in this experience of eating dirt & dust, camping out in the desert, having fried Turkeys & making memories.

Bodie, California is an abandoned mining town. Once the second biggest city in California and long known as one of the roughest places in the country, Bodie is now a ghost town, quiet, only the voices of the tourists and the whisper of the wind remain. The buildings still standing are less than 5% of what was once here.

In the 1880's, Virginia City was one of the largest cities west of the Mississippi River. Today it is one of the best preserved historic mining towns in the United States.
The Talbotville Cemetery is the only remaining evidence of the town except for mine sites in the district.
This skull was hanging up next to a lot full of cattle. We thought that was a mean thing for the cows to see. An angry bull walked away from us.
