Canada Geese (Podiceps cristatus)
When I saw the early morning mist on College Lake, Penryn, I knew I wanted to snap some minimal shots of waterfowel.
It didn't take long to find these Canada Geese. In fact they swan up pretty close to me. I only required a focal length of 191mm for this shot. The other birds on the lake that day weren't as obliging!
Focused on the nearest bird with a wide aperture, I was quite happy for the focus to fall off as the geese receded into the mist.
I took several shots, but liked this group of three the most - almost posing like a 90's boy-band album cover!
I would have preferred the nearest model to be looking back into frame though - "amateurs"

When I was shooting the minimalism in the Garry Point beach, a little girl came to me and asked what is that? I believe she thought I was shooting interesting animals in water.
She said that is a seal. I think it was just a stone since it was not moving at all.
Whenever a photographer points the camera in a direction, people will think there must be an animal or birds in the scene. :o)
Many photographers including me actually don’t take animal pictures.
Just another minimalism shot in Garry Point.
Happy Thursday!
I didn’t manage to take fields of poppy images this spring, but I did get the chance to pull over the car, hop out, and take some minimal shots off the side of the road. Just a simple, minimal poppy image.
more playing around with scale - a very minimal shot of someone standing on the hill in Campbell Park Milton Keynes.
The original shot was so noisy and dark I just had to hit the sliders to recover it.
I'm falling a tad behind - will be trying to catch up later!
Happy Sliders Sunday everyone!
... or if you're not sliding then Happy Sunday!

Winter is time for minimalism. The snowy winter is definitely the time for minimalism. I have a walk in the neighbourhood and do a few minimalism shots before the snowfall comes again.
Simplicity is good for 2022 and may be for all time.

After some days of not pressing a shutter, I walked around the lane today with the 100m f2.8 macro fitted. A lovely fresh breeze was blowing. but nothing much inspirational blew in. I noticed the hairs and stuff, so decided to get close and get a minimal shot. For me (unusually), I even used pattern metering, AE, and AF, with a -1 stop exposure bias

Ostend (Dutch: Oostende, French: Ostende) is a city in Belgium and municipality located in the Flemish province of West Flanders. It comprises the boroughs of Mariakerke, Stene and Zandvoorde, and the city of Ostend proper - the largest on the Belgian coast.
Formerly a 15th century medieval fishing village which has grown into a town. During the 18th century, the "Ostend Company" brought wealth to the town through trade with the Far East.
Ostend is situated on the North Sea coast, approximately midway along the 40-mile Belgian coastline stretching from De Panne via Nieuwpoort - Westende - Middelkerke - Oostende - Den Haan - Blankenberge to Knokke.
Ostend (East-End), which lies east of Middelkerke (hence the name), was at one time the summer residence of the Belgian Royal Court and was therefore known as the "The Queen of the Belgian sea-side resorts"
The "Royal Villa" (built in the reign of King Leopold I) has been transformed into an hotel-restaurant. Nowadays the Royal Court only visits Ostend on official occasions.
Ostend is the only Belgian coastal resort that is as lively in the summer as in the winter. Culture, sport or gastronomy: in short, there's a huge variety of things to choose from.

Dedicated to my dear friend Francisco (Paco_MUC). He has wonderful photos in his stream. His minimalism shots were the inspiration for my windsock.
(Quelle: Wikipedia: Ostende)

Here’s another minimal shot from my recent visit to the ROM. This is part of the Dale Chihuly exhibit. This orb is actually part of a large collection of orbs, but was sitting off to itself.
Saw this egret when I was out trying to get my "wide angle minimalism shot for ODC. I like this shot so much better than the one I submitted to the group, but felt that it was too close for the challenge. It's certainly a much better example of minimalism. This egret was incredibly tolerant of my presence. He seemed completely unfazed that I was moving closer. Only had my 35mm, so I pretty close here.

Well I love taking minimal shots these days. I just love the way the water is percolating into the sand.. What do you guys think of the shot? Oh and don't forget to like my facebook page!

I took these minimal shots in Oldenburg today, which are inspired by leontjew. I learned a lot by watching his great stream.
When we came to Mount Baker looking for the lake scene, it was all covered by snow.
The expereince reminds me the quotes I read in the book "Perception and Imaging: Photography - A Way of Seeing".
"Look for what you don't see." - Rashid Elisha
"Why assume that to look is to see." - Pablo Picasso
At the end I took a minimalism shot in the snow covered parking lot.
Have a great Tuesday!
These flowers were seen against this dark green stucco wall and had two small white framed windows above. I liked the simplicty of this wall scene. As in painting, it's a Minimal shot.
