On the 4th floor, Chatuchak Mix parking lot.

A more minimal shot than normal and a lot more work in post-processing to clean up specks on the reflective surface.

Another of the 'early' flowers, this year. Lends itself to a more elegant, minimal shot than my usual!

Another very minimal shot from Thurlestone!

Minimalism shot of the curve from a dune....

Thanks for looking.

Day 333. Spent the afternoon making Blackberry Vodka, Sloe Gin and Limoncello.

The limoncello is simply vodka, lemon zest and sugar. I follow this recipe, although use a couple more lemons and about half the sugar. www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1087/limoncello

I wanted to take a minimal shot so went in close and overexposed.

My photo is of the lemon zest in the vodka with a light shone from behind. Obviously the zest will be strained off after about 1-2 weeks before re-bottling with the syrup mix.

Minimal title for a minimal shot.

4 min exposure in the rain on the Dorset coast. I know it's hard to tell but this was actually sunrise... taken at 5am. Pretty incessant rain meant I haven't rushed to look through my shots, however a couple of weeks later, I quite like this and wish I had done more... its different from my usual style and an important reminder that opportunities exist in all manner of situations, I just need to keep an open mind.

Perhaps flickr isn't the best avenue for this one… it really needs to be viewed larger, (particularly to see the compliant seagull who stood motionless for the duration of this exposure!).

Minimalism shot of a single dandelion seed. Less is sometimes more.

This is a rather minimal shot, looking straight out to sea. I like the very subtle blend of tones where the sky meets the water ...

La última opción ennoblece la toma de decisiones; la última opción embellece más allá de las formas; la última opción elimina los rasgos para ganar en universalidad; la última opción da paso a la esencia.

I originally posted a shot very similar to this back in 2006, so I think that’s adequate time to go back to the RAW file, reprocess it with modern techniques and styling and try it again. In this age of complexity sometimes it’s the most minimal shots that have the most impact.

Plus someone requested this photo for purchase, SO, this was as good a time as any to reprocess and reupload this image.

By the way, is there any way they could rename these flowers from “rapeseed” to like… well, anything else?

This minimal shot from Étretat, France,

comes with a smooth and gentle feeling to it. The landscape seems to raise out of the mist and gives this photo a very becalming and unbent atmosphere along with the quiet colors.

I subtle minimal shot here from the Dorset coast.

I think this may be one of my first minimalism shots years ago.

It was taken at Iona Beach Richmond.

Have a great Monday and great week ahead!

The Hofgarten in Düsseldorf has really weird benches that serve as light source at night (see day 100). Always wanted to do a minimal shot here... a like for my Facebook page!

All this light waving is the result of an RPS webinar. Having put my variant on it, with a lensball, I then discovered someone with a completely different minimal approach. Now I love minimal but rarely achieve it very well. This is the wonderful minimal shot I loved www.flickr.com/photos/136755501@N03/50498756431/in/pool-2...

I have no idea how they did it (it might not even be with lights) but this is my take on it with LEDs and a lensball. (You can see my shaky hand 😁😂).

(And me doing this is contentious www.dpreview.com/articles/1166562748/imitated-image-copyr...

But I am messing around and am not selling this. I have borrowed a concept and used my tools, and I am more than happy to say it is other photographers idea. It was a fun way to spend the evening learning some things as I did it. At least I remembered to use long exposure noise reduction! (And some much needed relaxation for me too).

CC Week 13: minimalism.

Shot in a light box, then rotated in post for a more dramatic look.

yesterday i posted a macromonday shot for the theme of minimal and i promised i would show y'all where it came from;

so this is a recreated shot from farther out. the macro minimal shot is in the first comment box.

A wreck resting on Truro River.

This morning was grey and overcast. The light was flat and uninspiring. I had to work much harder to take a decent photo, but the benefit of the overcast sky were that conditions were constant for hours - not just a fleeting moment as the sun came up.

I first stopped at Kennall Vale - but uninspired there, I didn't take a single photo. Next I visited a woods close to my home that I've never been to before (pic to follow!)

Then, I remembered noticing this characterful boat tied up on Truro River while driving for work last week - so that's where I headed!

I envisaged a minimal shot in high contrast Black & White. I tried a higher vantage point to angle the camera down at the boat to eliminate the messy river bank opposite - which didn't really work. This lower angle was more natural, but left me more to do in post editing!

A 10 stop neutral density filter allowed me to extend the exposure time to 90 seconds in order to smooth our the water for a minimal shot. I faded out the opposing bank in post to give the appearance of mist and further simplify the image.

I believe most of the Vancouverites or Richmondites will notice that on most of the sunny days, there is always one seagull on top of every lamp post.

The seagull loves to overlook the city. We love to see gulls on top of our city.

I think I have not done minimalism shots for a long time. The blue clear sky is great canvas for that. And this is our Vancouver see gull. :o)

Have a great Tuesday!
