My attempt at a minimalism shot. I did a 3 exposure HDR. Waiting about a minute between shots to get the blur of the clouds so that they lead you into the centre of the photo

My local photo club's most recent monthly challenge hasn't been an obvious one. However, my mind did wander to the nice old-school globe streetlights outside University Hall.

While I was sauntering about taking photos after the storm, I tried to position the lamps against the nice flossy sky we had. Hopefully this works well as sort of a minimal shot.

I wanted to try a very minimal shot tonight. So I used this wicker vase because I thought its simple but elegant lines would fit with the minimal look. For this shot I used a single strobe camera right which was flagged to stop any light falling on the background. I tried a number of setups and even added another strobe camera left. However, I thought this shot fitted more with the minimal theme and I really like the way the eye almost fills in the shape of the wicker vase on the shadow side.

Strobist info :- SB900 camera right fitted with LumiQuest Softbox III, Flagged @ 1/16 power

Shot details :- ISO 200, 35mm f/2, 0 ev, f/22, 1/250

Went out for an hour yesterday which was a bit silly as I knew the wind was far too strong for long exposures, but tried anyway.

Was intending to get a minimal shot of the rails you can just see on the middle right, but the tripod was being blown all over the place.

Took shelter in this recess to wait it out and decided to grab a few shots here but from about 10 shots, this was the only one that didn't show camera movement from the wind.

Some weird shapes in the sky too which I think was due to sea foam/spray being blown onto my grad filter..

Week: 19

Theme: Maximalism

Maximalism is slightly tricky to define since it is an artistic concept. But as my Minimalism shot was a seascape with a few straight bands of colour across it, I decided to go with landscape and to include curves.

This is actually a panorama of stitched shots, done to capture a view of about 110degrees.
