We weren't blessed with much sunlight all week in Torridon but our last day was much improved. This was late afternoon on the Bealach Na Ba looking across to Skye.
It was lovely sitting on a stone bench clicking the shutter a few times enjoying the peace and quiet with not a breath of wind.
I think they call it mindfulness these days.....whatever that is!!
Every sunset is an opportunity to reset.

This man was so engrossed in his phone that he paid no attention to the bin he was transporting on a dolly as it fell off, instead he stood behind his truck, totally oblivious. He opened his truck, reached for the bin and realized it was no longer there. My friend and I chuckled to see how long it took him to become aware.
....in with the new. I have largely been absent due to kitchen renovation which has been going on for 2 months. Hoping I can cook Easter dinner as I have been using mostly my microwave, toaster, and once, my outdoor grill to boil water for tea! I AM NOT WHINING. My patience and any sense of order has been tested, but I am very mindful how privileged I am when I think of all the refugees there are in our world. How foolish worrying about the outcome of decorating decisions would seem to them and in that light, to me as well. Whatever happened to...." give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free?"

The group Mindful Moments takes inspiration from the poetry of John Keats. The Hereios decided to visit and to practice a bit of mindfulness today.
The theme inspired me to pull this lovely piece of Native American jewelry out of my closet, where it has long been neglected. I tend to be impatient, and dislike tedious chores, so I decided to practice mindfulness this evening by caring for and focusing on this beautiful object.
I found my jar of silver polish
I removed most of the collected tarnish
I ironed my black backdrop (unheard of!)
I resisted the temptation to take a few quick snaps, and set up the tripod
I tried different lenses, and several angles, exposures, and light positions
The result may not be a professional-looking jewelry presentation, but it was a calming exercise and now my necklace is ready to wear. I’m looking forward to that.

The Goal of Meditation
is not to control your thoughts.
It is to
