"Part of the The Georgia Avenue Global Mural, this piece is one of the five murals created along one of Washington, DC's main corridors, Georgia Avenue, as part of a grant-funded project that explored the city's cultural and social issues. This particular mural is titled The Great African Migration, and portrays the immigration of people of the African Diaspora emerging into Washington's communities. Being a first generation American of Ethiopian descent, this painting reflects Helina's own personal narrative. There were 100s of these Red Winged Blackbirds in this forest as a daytime flock, which is a tell tale sign it's their fall migration time, which can start as early as August. We've had unseasonably warm temperatures (no suprise with our Climate Crisis) which has changed some bird and insect patterns.
Critical wintering, migration and breeding habitats for a variety of fish and wildlife species will be better protected following the establishment of the Lhá:lt / Harrison-Chehalis Wildlife Management Area (WMA), Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations Steve Thomson announced.

The exhibition ‘All Directions’ is organized around six themes: migration, identity, fortune, border, flight and home.
Border
Borders have existed since time immemorial. They seem so self-evident that we almost forget they weren't always there. Yet borders can change. A border, and the documents needed to cross it, is nothing more than an agreement between countries. Passport stamps demonstrate that such an agreement can be decisive; anyone who doesn't get the correct stamp is denied entry.

These familiar plastic bags are used everywhere. They go by various names: "Ghana Must Go Bags" in Nigeria, "Bangladeshi Bags" in the United Kingdom, "Polen Tasche" or "Türken Koffer" in Germany, and "Zimbabwe Bags" in South Africa. Migrants worldwide pack their most important belongings in them before their departure. Dan Halter created a traveler and a world map from the bags. On the map, the contrasting checkered patterns mark the country borders.

Fenix is het nieuwe kunstmuseum over migratie in Rotterdam. De tentoonstelling ‘Alle Richtingen’ is opgebouwd rond zes thema's: migratie, identiteit, geluk, grens, vlucht en thuis.
Grens
Sinds mensengeheugnis zijn er grenzen. Ze lijken zo vanzelfsprekend dat we bijna vergeten dat ze er niet altijd waren. Toch kunen grenzen veranderen. Een grens, en welke documenten je nodig hebt om deze over te steken, is niets meer dans een afspraak tussen landen. Paspoortstempels laten zien dat zo’n afspraak allesbepalend kan zijn, wie niet de juiste stempel krijgt, wordt niet binnengelaten.

Op de wereldkaart markeren de contrasterende geblokte patronne de landsgrenzen.

Drawn by magnetic forces… the summer whale migration is expected to peak from the solstice (6/21)… until the full moon (6/26) The magnetic field balance is expected to return to seasonal norms after that time.
These camera shy creatures are sometimes seen browsing on lakeshore brush. Optimum viewing conditions occur during periods of light campfire smoke and mirror smooth water conditions.

Life-sized (or larger) stained glass birds "in flight" at the Kennedy Center. This installation features approximately 90 of Faroese painter and sculptor Tróndur Patursson's trademark stained glass birds. They looked quite impressive and very colorful.
