Bask in the limelight: these are the best cameras for vlogging.
Image: GoPro
So you want to be a vlogger. First, a pop quiz:
Which came first, the video or the camera? This is not a trick question.
The camera, duh! Which means if you want to create dope videos that will have the whole world interested in what you do or say, you should start with the right piece of recording equipment.
SEE ALSO: 7 online classes on video editing to help you make the next big blockbuster hit
Sure, everyone has a pretty good camera on their smartphone. But as more people flock to YouTube to upload their latestiCapturedshenanigans, you have to invest in the right camera if you want to be a shot above the rest — and a legitimate vlogger.
How do you know which camera to choose to help make your vlog (video blog) pop? We’ll tell you! But first, we’ll key you in on which camera features to look out for as well as which ones don’t really matter.
Features you should care about:
Video Quality: Pay attention to video resolution. You’ll see 720p, 1080p, and 4K in most descriptions for camcorders these days. They pretty much equate to HD ready, Full HD, and Ultra HD – each a little better than the last.
Built-In Wi-Fi: Video editing alone can take a bit of time. Finding a camera with built-in Wi-Fi can save you a step as your vids can automatically appear on your smartphone or PC. Otherwise, you’ll have to connect a USB cable and wait for the file to transfer. Yawn.
Microphone Input: Video quality may get your viewers through the door, but great sound will help keep them there. There isn’t a camera out there without a built-in mic. But for even better quality sound, choose a camera that lets you connect an external mic so you can always upgrade Without that port you’re stuck.
Stabilization: Some vloggers just sit in their bedroom and talk to camera – which is fine. But if you want to record videos beyond that you’ll want to search for a camera that has built-in optical image stabilization. It’ll help ensure that your videos come out smooth no matter what activity you’re doing. You’ll also want to buy a tripod if the camera you choose doesn’t come with one. Amazon has great set-ups at pretty decent prices on those as well.
Features you shouldn’t care about:
Zoom: You don’t actually need a camera with impeccable zoom unless you’re a travel blogger. Zoom is just one of those things that’s nice to have for photography, but for video you’ll probably just be shooting yourself relatively close-up.
Flash: To get the best quality video possible, you’ll want to shoot in well-lit environments. Some cameras do have night vision, but how often do you really need that? Amazon has several lighting bundles that can help illuminate your space, and many are pretty decently priced.
Megapixels: If you aren’t really concerned about shooting photographs, Megapixels don’t really matter.
Now that you know which features to keep an eye out for, and which ones don’t really matter, we’ll suggest a few cameras that we think will take your vlogging game to the next level.
Best cameras for vlogging:
GoPro HERO 5 Black — $399
The GoPro HERO is a favorite for on-the-go shooting.

The HERO 5 Black by GoPro tries to balance performance and convenience with its 4K video, voice control, touch display, and waterproof design. With the QuikStories app, the HERO5 Black can automatically send your footage to your phone where you can transform your latest viral creations. Stabilization is really important when it comes to shooting moving video, and the HERO5 Black is up to the task, whether it’s handheld or mounted to your gear. When you’re done shooting, you can set the HERO5 to auto upload everything to the cloud with GoPro Plus, a subscription service offered by the company.
If you want to film your underwater vacations, then this is also an excellent choice: this GoPro is waterproof up to 33 feet. You can also enjoy hands-free control of your camera using simple voice commands, or you can press the shutter button to turn the camera on and start recording automatically. You’ll just need to buy your own microSD card.
Though priced at $399, we’ve seen this drop down to $249.

Canon PowerShot SX730 HS — $399
The Canon PowerShot even has a Smooth Skin effect like Snapchat.
Image: Canon
The PowerShot SX730 HS has a large 3-inch tilt screen so you can see yourself when you’re recording, which you’ll definitely want.
You can capture a subject near, far, and in-between with a 40x Optical Zoom — not that you need that every day, but it could be nice to have. There’s even a Smooth Skin effect that’s available in all modes to help enhance your natural features, kinda like Snapchat does but better quality. With this camera you can share your videos straight away using the built-in Bluetooth as well as Wi-Fi technology, another useful feature you should always check for. Wi-Fi features will be especially helpful if you plan to upload your vlogs to YouTube. The site can automatically sync with many modern cameras, saving you a step.
The camera doesn’t feature a touchscreen, but that shouldn’t be a dealbreaker.

Nikon D5300 24.2 MP CMOS — $528
In Live View, Nikon’s autofocus will follow your subject, keeping it sharp.
Image: Nikon
D5300 is Nikon’s first DSLR with built-in Wi-Fi, which makes it super easy to share your pictures on the go. You get all the image quality that Nikon’s photos have, like softly blurred backgrounds, tack-sharp details, and vibrant colors, but in dazzling 1080p full HD videos.
If you like to shoot sports or action, this camera shoots up to 60 frames per second so you should get smooth video playback. There is even a fun effects mode that allows you to apply special effects to video in real time as you’re recording. In Live View, Nikon’s autofocus will follow your subject, keeping it sharp. You can even swivel the flip screen around so you can shoot video from new angles.
Some people might put up with low-quality video, but bad sound quality is the ultimate worst. That’s why this Nikon it great. You can attach a ME-1 stereo microphone so you can get the highest quality sound possible. Amazon customers love it, giving it 4.6 out of 5 stars, so odds are you’ll like it too. Currently, you can get the best deal on Amazon, but it’s selling fast. Once sold out, you can find it here.

Vixia HF R800 – $528
Canon EOS Rebel T5i — $799
The Canon Rebel’s professional HD Movie Mode will make you feel legit.
Image: Canon
What this camera lacks in specs, it sure does make up for in features and image quality. The Canon Rebel T5i camera comes with a vari-angle LCD that’s perfect for framing yourself while vlogging, or getting yourself into focus when shooting alone. The Canon Rebel T5i may not shoot in 4K like some its competitors, but what it does have is world-class color reproduction made possible by Canon Color Science.
In addition to the color, the EOS Rebel T5i has some significant new technologies to make HD video capturing smoother, faster, and more comfortable. The Movie Servo AF feature helps ensure sharp focus even during unpredictable movements. And the wide area 9-point auto-focus system is said to deliver consistent focus on moving objects. Oh, and the Canon Rebel series is also known for impeccable photo quality — so there’s always that.
Though priced at $799, we’ve seen Amazon knock as much as $200 off the price.

Sony a5100 — $548
This Sony camera has a slim profile and is about half the weight of a typical DSLR
Image: Sony
If you want something better than a point and shoot, but less bulky than a DSLR camera, then this mirrorless option by Sony might be the one you need. The SONY a5100 allows you to use interchangeable lenses, giving you greater video versatility without having to carry around bulky equipment.
This Sony cam has a slim profile and is about half the weight of a typical DSLR. It comes with a 16-50mm lens — the norm on most cameras because its the most versatile. Unlike DSLR cameras though, most mirrorless cameras don’t have a separate focus ring to control your focus area. Instead, you’ll have to focus using the on-screen menus manually. The AF (auto focus) speed is ultra-fast on this camera at 0.07 seconds, so you never miss a moment. Like many others on the list, it has a 180-degree tilt screen so you can take perfectly framed selfie videos.

Sony a5100 – $548
PANASONIC LUMIX G7 4K — $799
The Lumix by Panasonic is packed with features like intelligent-focusing and creative controls.
Image: PANASONIC
You might want to consider this mirrorless option by Panasonic because it shoots 4K video and offers over 24 compact lens options. Because it’s a mirrorless, it has a lighter body than traditional DSLRs, but it’s packed with features like intelligent-focusing and creative controls. This is a great, compact camera that’s easy to just keep in your bag at all times. The Lumix was designed for those who want a camera that’s versatile enough to shoot high-res videos and photos yet rugged enough to take anywhere.
The precise AF tracks the color, size, and motion of your subject, which is probably going to be you, so you can shoot with confidence without worrying about blurry results. Plus, the tilt/swivel touch-display lets you further adjust the screen for optimum clarity. We’ve seen this Amazon’s Choice camera on sale for 25% off, so keep an eye out.

SONY AX33 4K Handycam — $748
The Sony AX33 handycam uses infrared light to capture subjects even in complete darkness.
Image: SONY
The Sony AX33 4K Handycamhas so many features to drool over. Besides producing 4K video, this camera also has excellent stabilization that Sony calls Balanced Optical SteadyShot. If you’re recording action videos without a tripod this is going to help to make your footage a lot more clean. The AX33 also has something called My Voice Canceling capabilities, so it can reduce the intensity of behind-camera sounds. And the built-in USB cable is stowed in the hand strap, making it convenient for extra-quick charging or connection to your laptop.
The camera comes with a 3-inch LCD touchscreen, letting you compose a shot more easily while enabling you to adjust the settings. And as far as sound goes, this camera captures it from all directions. Plus, there’s built-in Wi-Fi so you can easily share your moments whenever you want. If you’re dying to use night vision, this choice has NightShot, a feature that uses infrared light to capture subjects even in complete darkness.

Canon VIXIA HF R800 — $249.99
The Canon Vixia HF R800 camcorder has an impressive 57x zoom.
Image: Canon
Of course, the defining characteristic of any video camera is how high the video quality is. Not only will this one shoot 1080p, but we’ve seen it on sale for only $219. (Full price is $249.99.)
The Canon Vixia HF R800 camcorder has a 57x zoom (we doubt you’ll ever need that much, but it adds to the value). You can enjoy optical image stabilization to reduce camera shake, a 3-inch color touch-screen LCD, and instant autofocus to help eliminate blurry images.
What you don’t get is onboard memory storage or Wi-Fi connectivity. But any SD card can eliminate those concerns. The Vixia has long battery life and features intelligent technology that can accurately let you know how much battery life is remaining, so you don’t miss a vital recording opportunity.

SanDisk MicroSD 64GB
Thanks to the 'efficient' Correios (Brazilian Postal Company), the Micro SD Card I bought from an eBay seller from HK was delivered after just 129 days.
The 32GB of internal storage is enough to keep this Intel Compute Stick (STK1AW32SC) running as a web browsing Windows 10 PC and occasional Media Player and nothing more, so this Samsung 64GB Micro SD Card is a much needed addition, specially for emulation and torrenting uses.
Welcome to the twelve days of wishmas – a simple guide and wish list you can use to surprise a friend, lift the spirits of a family member, or just get yourself a great gift.
At Geekazine, we look at many different tech items. Conner put together most of this list (guess which one was my suggestion). Each section will appear as you scroll.
You can watch the video in it’s entirety, or through each section. Let us know what you think about the list below.

1. Nintendo Switch
The Nintendo Switch has been immensely popular ever since its launch and it looks like that popularity shows no signs of slowing down. Thanks to many big titles and a great new design, Nintendo’s latest console is on every kid’s wish list this holiday season. Probably for seasons to come as well.
It’s unlike the other consoles on the market. At home, the Nintendo Switch rests in the dock that connects the system to the TV and lets you play with family and friends in your living room. If you want to game on the go, just lift the Nintendo Switch from the dock and you can instantly transition to handheld mode to take it with you.
There are over a thousand games available on Nintendo Switch, so there’s a game for every occasion. Single player, multiplayer, it’s all here. The detachable Joy-Con controller allows for many play styles. One player can use a Joy-Con in each hand, two players can each take one, or you can use multiple Joy-Cons for larger player numbers.
With games like Super Mario Odyssey, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Fortnite and many more, the Switch seems like a Christmas miracle for fun.
2. Amazon Echo Dot
If you want to make your home a smart home and get in on the home automation craze you want Alexa to be your virtual personal assistant. Preferably in the 3rd generation of the Amazon Echo Dot. The Echo Dot is how Alexa is able to control your smart devices and make your life easier for you.
It connects to all kinds of devices. It can play music, let you watch videos, answer questions, read the news, set alarms, keep up to date on social media, play games, control smart home devices and much much more. This device is your ticket to upgrading your home into a smart home. Welcome to the future. It’s basically a helping hand into the 21st century.
You can also call and message almost anyone hands-free. Or instantly connect with other rooms in your home, for things like making an announcement to every room with a compatible Echo device. Pretty neat right?
The list of things that it can do is growing all of the time and Alexa is always getting smarter and adding new skills.
Use your voice to turn the heat down, turn off lights and appliances and much more. The possibilities are endless.
We really love the HyperX Cloud Revolver S Gaming Headset. Not only is it comfortable, but it also has excellent all-around sound and design. Those first two qualities are among the most important considerations when you are gaming for hours on end, while the latter is just icing on the cake. It features excellent 7.1-channel surround sound, through Dolby’s digital signal processor and features a detachable mic.
It isn’t often that you get this kind of sound and comfort in one headset. It also has a steel frame that makes this headset very durable, which again makes it worth the purchase, even though it’s a bit pricey comparatively. It was designed in Germany and it certainly shows. Everything from the outer earcup design to the red memory foam showing through on the inside commands your attention and catches your eye.
It also features next-generation directional 50mm drivers, USB Plug N Play Dolby Surround 7.1 compatible with PC, PS4, PS4 Pro and other devices with USB audio support. It’s also has a 3.5mm plug. It has you covered on nearly all platforms.
The detachable noise-cancellation microphone delivers clearer voice quality and reduced background noise, so you can expect quality in-game chats that don’t suck. It’s also TeamSpeak and Discord certified, and compatible with Skype and Mumble. This headset has you covered.
The HyperX Cloud Revolver S is one of the best gaming headsets out there at the moment. Even though it’s more expensive than the competition at $70.95, you really get your money’s worth.
4. PS4 Pro
This Christmas give them the gift of gaming. Sure you could choose an XBox One or Nintendo’s Switch, but the PS4 Pro is simply the best. Sony’s powered-up PS4 Pro will be a stunning treat for 4K TV owners who game.
It’s always a showdown between Sony’s PS4 and Microsoft’s XBox, but the PS4 has the clear edge in this fight. Which is why it outsells Microsoft’s console. The PS4 Pro has great hardware, great games, and a huge online presence. And there are always killer games in the pipeline. When Sony updated the PS4, it added support for 4K and HDR technologies. There are also advances in frame rate thanks to better processing speeds. Your game is going to look cleaner, sharper and smoother. Better than ever before.
If you’re giving the gift of a PS4 Pro this holiday season, you have a lot of options. You can buy the console bundled with popular games, or buy the console itself. Either way, the recipient of this gift is going to love Santa this year. It’s the gift that keeps on giving with awesome games, many of which are exclusive to the console.
Of course, I have to put in some music tech into this list. Out of all the products I’ve played with, I enjoy the Roland drum system the most. This is the TD-1DMK – a great drum set for the beginner, or for someone practicing.
Features include a brain module that can connect to a PC, 256 notes polyphony, Roland’s V-drum mesh head system to make it feel like a real drum, 10 onboard coaching functions, and an all-in-one rack that can be put in a corner fairly easy.
I personally own the TD-50 module, which offers much more, but in this case, the $700 price tag is a little more digestible.
You will have to purchase a base drum pedal and drum throne separate. But with this kit, you get the triggers for bass, snare, 3 toms, 3 cymbals, and hi-hat.
And the Roland sounds give you drum sets, latin percussion, orchestra instruments, and more at your fingertips.
6. Samsung Q9FN QLED 65 Inch Smart TV
We are pretty confident that we can say that the Samsung Q9FN QLED 65″ Smart TV is going to be the best TV you’ve ever owned. This 65″ smart TV is much brighter and more colorful than the equivalent model from the year before. It also uses Full Array Local Dimming instead of edge-lit LED lighting for stunning depth and detail. You can expect a picture quality that rivals OLED.
This set also has Q HDR EliteMax, which is a maximum High Dynamic Range experience designed exclusively for the Q9 to ensure the best picture. This TV is designed to look beautiful by minimizing wires and mounting flush to the wall. The idea is that it blends perfectly with your decor and they’ve certainly succeeded there. It looks at home in any environment and becomes a part of it.
There’s also a new Ambient Mode that allows you to use the TV to your advantage when setting moods in your home or getting info. It allows you to display decorative content, useful information, your photos, and even background music when you want it.
Bixby Voice is a feature that will help you find streaming and live TV shows with a universal guide, OneRemote and voice assistance.
This set is virtually bezel-free, which gives you more image and doesn’t distract your focus on the incredible picture quality. And if you love gaming, you are going to experience your games like never before when playing them on the Q9.
7. MSI GS65 Stealth Thin Ultra Gaming Laptop
If you’re looking for the best gaming laptop that you can buy this year, you’ll want to turn your attention toward the more than capable MSI GS65 Stealth THIN Ultra-Thin Gaming Laptop. The GS65 Stealth Thin has everything you want in a gaming laptop. It’s all about convenience and portability in a form-factor that’s light and thin enough for your backpack and easy to carry if you don’t use a backpack.
This is a laptop that is powerful enough to play the latest games at high or max settings so it has everything we want for gaming. It features a sleek matte black aluminum body with gold accents, without being too flashy. At 18mm thick, and with 4.9mm thin bezels, it’s a tad smaller than most 15-inch laptops, which is not a bad thing at all.
Other features include an Intel Core i7-8750H, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q GPU, 16GB DDR4-2400MHz RAM, 15.6-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) wide-view 144Hz screen, 512GB M.2 SSD storage and it weighs just 4.14 lbs. This laptop also packs in a keyboard from SteelSeries that’s RGB-lit, a responsive touchpad, and a webcam.
That keyboard gives you some nice granular control over your keyboard illumination using the SteelSeries Engine 3. If you light lights on your keyboard this is going to be a real treat for you.
A laptop like this will let you spend countless hours gaming without any of the hangups that other rigs would suffer. It’s a sleek powerhouse that’s built for fun. At the moment you won’t find a better gaming laptop.
8. Amazon Fire HD8 Tablet
For those looking for a budget tablet, the Amazon Fire HD 8 is the best deal around. It delivers up to 10 hours of battery life and packs in a vibrant 8″ HD display. It is primarily designed with entertainment in mind. This Alexa-enabled tablet will make a great gift for adults or kids alike this Christmas. The Fire HD 8 is great quality for its size and the price and Amazon has tons of apps that you can browse for free and it already comes with the standard ones.
Other features include a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, and Dolby Audio. 2x. If you like using your voice, you can use the Alexa hands-free mode to pause videos, play music, open apps, get sports scores, the weather, and much more.
At no extra cost, Prime members get unlimited access to over a thousand books and magazines, millions of songs, and thousands of movies and TV episodes. It also has a Show Mode that lets you transform your tablet to an immersive, full-screen Alexa experience that is optimized for visibility across the room. You can also call or message almost anyone hands-free, or make video calls. People really love Amazon’s Fire tablets, because you can do so much with them for a budget price. That makes it a great Christmas gift for several people on your list.
9. Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus
The Samsung Galaxy S9 is the best choice around for Android fans looking for a new smartphone. It’s a big phone that offers the very best smartphone features that users want.
The Super AMOLED 6.2-inch display is among the best around at the moment. You can expect great colors and a great viewing experience. You’ll also get a 3,500mAh battery in the Plus model and a camera with dual-aperture capability for some excellent pics.
Even 9 months out from its launch the S9 Plus remains one of the best phones out there. The big highlights here are its ability to take low-light photos and it’s big 6.2-inch curved ‘Infinity’ display. But that’s not all it offers. There’s also the rear dual-lens camera, which gives it some nice telephoto capabilities.
Also, the primary lens can capture super-slow-motion video at 960 frames per second. If that’s not your thing, you can use the 8MP front-facing camera to paint the scene with various AR Emoji props and masks, but honestly, that’s probably the least impressive thing about this phone, just a bonus.
If you are looking for a smartphone for someone special this Christmas, or for yourself, you can’t go wrong with the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus.
10. DJI Mavic 2 Pro Drone
DJI’s original Mavic Pro made waves when it arrived back in September 2016. In fact, it changed the drone world forever with its foldable design and great specs. Now the company has introduced the Mavic 2 Pro, which is the first to be outfitted with a Hasselblad camera.
This is the jewel of DJI’s drone lineup thanks to the camera’s one-inch sensor. You can shoot 4K at 30fps and 20-megapixel still images with this high flyer. And it is still compact and light, making it easy to carry it in your backpack or bag. The battery life also beats its predecessor. Plus it has more sensors for obstacle avoidance. It is simply one of the best drones you can buy today.
If you’re looking for a drone for someone on your list this year, this is the one to buy. It weighs just 297g and measures 91 x 84 x 214mm when folded. Other features include 8GB of built-in storage, a microSD slot for cards up to 128GB, and the ability to download footage to your computer via the USB-C port, which is also how it gets firmware updates by the way. You’ll also get about 30 minutes of flight per charge, which is awesome.
11. Jabra Elite 65t Alexa Enabled True Wireless Earbuds with Charging Case
If you want a great alternative to Apple’s AirPods, the Jabra Elite 65t will fit the bill. They are wireless earphones for every occasion. While most of Jabra’s offering focus on the gym and sports, these good-looking earbuds are made for everyday use. They look great, they sound great and you also get five hours of use from a full charge, plus an extra two from the charging case. That’s not bad at all.
This is one of the most popular sets of wireless earbuds on the market right now and it’s easy to see why. They may be designed more for music and Netflix rather than running, but they still stay in place in your ears as well as those other athletic-oriented models do.
With the Jabra Sound+ app you get even more out of these earbuds. You can personalize your experience, choose your voice assistant, customize your music profile, modify how much nearby noise you want to hear, keep track of your charge level, and more.
4-microphone technology ensures that call and voice quality is superb, giving you effective wind noise reduction on all of your calls.
12. Oculus Rift
You know all of that fun stuff that you do in video games? It’s even cooler in VR. And the best VR headset around right now is the Oculus Rift. And no it doesn’t require an entire room. If you have a gaming PC with some pretty powerful specs you are going to have a lot of fun.
It has a sleek and comfortable design, plus the Touch Controllers are a big part of what makes this VR experience the best. They are the most comfortable in the PC VR headset market. The positioning of the buttons and analog sticks are perfect so that movements, like grabbing things or holding a golf club, feel very natural. And if you want to create a more immersive experience, you can also buy a pair of Oculus’ attachable earphones and you will be lost in VR for as long as you like.
You’ll also have at your disposal a library to over 500 games, including titles from big-time game developers like Insomniac Games, Ubisoft and Harmonix. In fact, there is a constant flow of new content coming all of the time, so it makes sense to choose the Oculus and put it under the Christmas Tree this year.

Mini iPhone comes with a 2.6-inch touchscreen and a VGA camera. It supports Bluetooth and up to 2GB of microSD cards. Like some other iPhone clones, Mini iPhone has two SIM card slots. As a “mini sized iPhone”, the Mini iPhone doesn’t support multi touch, instead it comes with a stylus. But the phone does offer iPhone-like UI.

Raspberry Pi 3 B+ with 5V Switched Mode Power Supply fitted inside a recycled DVD Player’s chassis. It runs on OSMC Linux operating system with Kodi media and video management.
Arduino clone with real-time clock, microSD socket and radio module. The layout is designed for easy assembly and maximum compatibility with the Arduino Uno, with additional functionality being compatible with the Arduino Mega2560. The optional LM61 temperature sensor is not fitted. As this particular board is intended to be powered by a boost regulator fitted to a shield the 3.3V and 5V regulators, and power LED, have not been fitted.
Version 2 features a number of improvements: there are footprints for SOIC and DIP package real-time clocks and a 5V regulator has been added. The PCB now supports the latest Arduino shield layout, with dedicated pins for I2C and IOREF signals, and 3.3V or 5V operation is possible via a jumper. An RFM12B radio module and microSD socket have been added, both are restricted to 3.3V operation. The microcontroller can be clocked from either an external crystal or ceramic oscillator. The analogue supply is smoothed with an inductor as recommended in the Atmel datasheet.

How to connect an Arduino to an SD Card using resistors to change voltage levels (5V Arduino, 3.3V SD Card).
I made a stripboard shield for a Micro SD card using this here.
Formerly the butcher shop/meat department of the Iuka MS Sunflower Grocery store. I still find it hard to believe that all that music on those records and tapes can now be stored on a single microSD memory card that's smaller than my thumbnail! It might take an "exotic" 128GB card (still costing about $120 as I write this), but it could very likely be done.

Macro Mondays theme: Contacts
We used to write our contacts' names and numbers with pen on paper; now they are written on a memory card in our cell phones...
It's hard to believe this tiny MicroSD card can hold all of the information we used to scribble down with this ball-point pen!
A picture says a thousand words? Some gadgets I have lying around my place (I really need to have a spring clean or start a museum). Arranged into some kind of order, squished a bit in Photoshop to make it less of a trapezium.
The evolution of storage space. The inner disk has 1,666,666,666.66 times the storage space of its larger counterpart.

* Does the M79 come with an analog TV tuner?
Yes, watch TV and be happy with The Amigo QWERTY phone.
* Is this phone like the iPhone?
No, this phone is better than the iPhone! Unlike the iPhone, the M79 comes fully unlocked and ready for use with any network or carrier straight out of the box. You do not need to use any firmware hacks and risk "bricking" the phone. The M79 also has dual SIM (unlike the iPhone).
* Is this phone like the Chinese HiPhone, APhone, or SciPhone?
No, this is better than all of them. Unlike with other Chinese touchscreen phones, the M79 comes with a full 12-month warranty from easygadget along with a professional in-house customer support service. You can also be secure in the knowledge that your M79 has gone through rigorous QC testing before it is shipped direct to you.

Before you use the battery for the first time, please charge it for 12 hours.
* Great to hear that the phone comes with 2 batteries. What if I need more batteries, what should I do?

* Can I change the ringtone with this phone?
Definitely. The phone provides for many preset ringtones. You can also load your own MP3s to act as ringtones or use the phone's sound recorder to record your own voice or sounds as a ringtone.
* What is Dual Standby and does the Amigo phone have it?
A phone which is designed to work with 2 Subscriber Identity Modules (SIMs) are called Dual SIM phones. You can enter a name that is 14 characters long.
* What kind of operating system does this phone use?
It's called Nucleus RTOS.
* How hackable is this phone?
If you like to hack things, by that we mean squeeze more functionality out of a thing than was originally intended then this phone is for you. Keep in mind that any attempts to open up the phone, flash the firmware, basically mess with it, will void the warranty. Having said that, if DIY hacking is your passion then you might find gsmhosting.com very interesting. Especially the section about Chinese models and cloned phones. This phone uses the MediaTek 6235 chip by the way.
* Where can I download some great free music for this phone?
We love magnatune.com, great music from all genres. Check out Lara St John's amazing version of Vivaldi's Four Seasons or DJ Cary's Eastern Grooves. Aurgasm.us also has some very delicious tunes.
* I live in India, can I buy this phone?
No. This phone is not for export to India because of existing OEM agreements.
The Hummer HT1 has a 2 megapixel camera, FM radio, a microSD memory card slot, GPRS and GSM support.
Company phone it seems... chaining me to my Outlook email. At least I'm allowed to make personal calls! And, maybe even flickr from the phone :)
First impressions in the box are good. It looks quite ok despite having a large ugly keyboard. It is definitely a Motorola. It comes with a charging dock with a spare charging slot for a second battery. Is that a hint to it's short standby time, so typical of WM devices? Still, it reminded me of my first mobile phone, a Motorola MicroTAC I-888 that we got for $1 from Crazy John, who sadly passed away yesterday.
I turn it on to be greeted by Windows Mobile 6, and it's all downhill from there!
Then I read Gizmodo's mini Moto Q9m review...
I just got my hands on the first Moto Q9m, and after a couple of hours, I'm ready to send it right back. Seriously, if you buy this phone, you are dumb.
... and I agree. Windows Mobile 6 Smartphone Edition sucks! At least I get a 512MB microSD with it. Full specs below.
