These Diatoms belong to the genus Cylindrothecia, species unknown. They are the dominant species component of the yellow mud bottom of the main Weep stream, near Drawbridge, in the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay Wildlife Reserve. Their golden color gives the mud its pale yellow appearance. Magnification 400x. Generally, the dominant species of a community defines it, making the yellow Weep stream bottom the "Cylindorthecia Micro-Community".

The middle plate fits over the microscope stage, and constrains the xy rig from moving left or right, up or down, but it doesn't keep it from moving in and out.

The front plate keeps the rig from moving in, and then the rods and stops keep the rig from moving out and off of the microscope.
