Testing the range of magnification and quality using an slr camera attachment for a microscope/telescope eyepieces. Microscope was a Motic stereo 10-40x magnification microscope.

It occurred to me while lying in bed this morning, that I could use the cap from a microscope objective holder to mate a microsope objective lens with some sort of T-mount tube. It works!
The camera body is just for show, normally it would go on the camera that took the picture.

What you're looking is a projection on a wall of the interference patterns of paramecium swimming around in a sample of water I took from my tomato plant. Paramecium are single celled organisms about 100 microns in size. I set up a laser microscope/projector to investigate microscopic life and project it onto my wall. It's not nearly as complicated to set up as it sounds. The laser is precisely aligned with a drop of water, which acts as a spherical lens. The coherent nature of laser light yields an incredibly large depth of field which allows you to project the resulting images onto a wall or ceiling. All you need is a laser, a sample of pond water (tomato water works too) and a syringe.
Taken with a Microscope and attached DSLR camera... I made them into HDR's but otherwise did not feel like editing them. Sorry.

An interesting look at everyday things.
I bought a cheap USB powered Microscope and then started exploring. Some of the images were very unexpected so I thought I would post a few.

I got my hands on an Olympus TG-3, a really good point & shoot camera. It has a great ultra macro, or microscope mode. This is a close up of an anemone, taken with this mode, and ambient light.
