Prélevé dans un lac de montagne (alt 2200 m ).

Une reproduction sexuée existe mais elle est fort rare. Le plus souvent, la reproduction est asexuée, par fission, l'animal se segmente en "bourgeons" appelés zoïdes, dans la partie postérieure (pygidium) de l'animal. Progressivement on voit se différencier un prostomum et le tube digestif se contracter. Ce processus est continu durant la vie et l'on peut voir se former dans un même individu des zoïdes successifs non détachés.

Prélevés dans de petits lacs situés à 2200 m d'altitude.

An interesting look at everyday things.

I bought a cheap USB powered Microscope and then started exploring. Some of the images were very unexpected so I thought I would post a few.

Taken with a Microscope and attached DSLR camera... I made them into HDR's but otherwise did not feel like editing them. Sorry.

"Infusoria Stentor" est un micro-organisme ciliés en forme de trompette. Son nom fait référence à Stentor, crieur de l'armée des Grecs lors de la guerre de Troie. Il vit essentiellement en eaux douces et sa longueur peut atteindre 3 à 5 mm, ce qui le fait considérer comme le « géant » des protozoaires.

Studio stack of a small moth (probably Depressariinae species) at 10x magnification. Found under dead bark in december. 280 exposures taken with Mitutoyo M Plan Apo 10x microscope objective on bellows, 2 flashlight diffused with paper cylinder. Stacked in Zerene (PMax & DMap mix), cropped.

Lol, sorry for the quality - this wasn't taken professionally at all.

It looks far far out in space, but its a straight digital microscope image only sharped in Photoshop. The lights that make it so intergallactical are the lights on the digital microscope reflected from the smooth (?) back of the locket. I tried to photograph the reflections on the planes of the minute diamond in the centre, but hundreds of macrophotos later I failed in this regard. I love this image anyway.

Hint: the thing is seen 60 times larger here. I used a handheld microscope to take these photos.
