chipKIT Wi-FIRE: WiFi Enabled PIC32MZ Microcontroller Board
Building on the previous successes with the chipKIT WF32, the Wi-FIRE uses the same 43 available I/O pins, 12 analog inputs, 3.3 operating voltage, 4 user LEDs, potentiometer, buttons, uses MRF24 on-board wireless module, microSD Card, dedicated SPI Signals and high efficiency switching 3.3V switching power supply for low-power operation.
The Wi-FIRE is significantly faster than its WF32 counterpart, with 200 MHz operation speed, 2MB of Flash, 512kB RAM, High-Speed USB and a 50MHz SPI. The PIC32MZ core includes the MIPS M5150 CPU Core from Imagination Technologies. The M5150 is a highly efficient, compact core that is optimized for cloud-connected based projects, using Imagination Technologies' FlowCloud software.

The chipKIT WiFi Shield provides chipKIT microcontroller boards the ability to connect to and communicate with IEEE 802.11 compatible wireless networks. The WiFi Shield also provides a microSD card connector for use with microSD flash memory cards. The chipKIT MPIDE SD library can be used to read/write files stored on the microSD card.
Planned use is to have plane shoot people on ground and people can shoot plane above, two way laser tag!

The Arduino microcontroller board is wired up to a Nokia 1202 LCD via a CD4050 buffer chip. The bit-maps of the cells in the game take up nearly all the RAM on the AVR microcontroller chip. New generations are displayed at a rate of about ten per second. Screen resolution is 96x68 pixels.
The CNC router is a large, horizontal milling machine that can cut many types of materials, including plastics, Delrin and other non-ferrous materials. This particular machine handles a full sheet of 4’ x 8’ material and uses a 10-tool changer to pick the right cutter for the job. The primary use of this machine is to build our Parallax DIY solar panel products.

Found plastic flowers, foam, light sensors, mp3 players, microcontroller, speakers, birdsong
An ersatz version of nature; beautiful, yet a little bit deadly when one considers the natural resources required to create such impeccable imitations of vegetation. Is it also a reflection of human hubris... what else motivates the manufacturing of fake flowers? Why replace the ephemeral with plastic permanence? What joy is there in a whiff of a petroleum-based bouquet rather than the delicate scent of a rose? Secret Garden offers an opportunity to contemplate these questions at the same time it tries to seduce you with extravagant color and joyous birdsong performed just for you.

I got my arduino + accessories from ladyada.net / adafruit.com, and wanted to check that everything worked. At first I thought I bought a broken LCD screen - the pin numbers on the tutorial were different from those in the sample program. Once I figured that out everything worked, and now I just have to get on making the rest of this project...
An ultrasonic transducer to allow people to hear the call of bats. This one still needs some of its components added but will be used to map bats in the Eugene, Oregon area. It is the test example for an upcoming class on building them to take place at the Allan Price Science Commons and Research Library Maker Space on the University of Oregon Campus. The Design is from T. Messina. The shield will connect to an Arduino microcontroller below it.
