Microchip announced a new addition to its PIC12/16LF155X 8-bit microcontroller (MCU) family with the PIC16LF1554 and PIC16LF1559 (PIC16LF1554/9) devices. The PIC16LF1554/9 includes two independent 10-bit 100K samples per second Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC) with hardware Capacitive Voltage Divider (CVD) support for capacitive-touch sensing. This unique ADC configuration enables more efficient sensor acquisition and assists with advanced touch-sensing techniques for extremely noisy environments, low-power applications, matrix keypads and water-resistant designs. Microchip Technology's MCP4341, MCP4342 (MCP434X), MCP4361 and MCP4362 (MCP436X) quad digital potentiometers.
Microchip Technology's low pin-count 16-bit eXtreme Low Power (XLP) PIC24F32KA304 MCUs feature on-chip 12-bit ADC, EEPROM, intelligent mTouch™ capacitive sensing, and the capability to run from a 5V supply. The MCUs feature extremely low sleep currents down to 20 nA, for which all XLP PIC MCUs are known.
One of the commonly asked questions when we move to the bigger and powerful 16-bit microcontroller is do we really need it? As the 8-bit microcontroller is already suite almost all of our needs from a simple blinking LED to more sophisticated embedded application such as robotics
The ZeroG Wireless ZG2100M and ZG2101M Wi-Fi® Modules, ZeroG IEEE 802.11 Development Kit for Explorer 16 (part # AC164136) and the ZeroG Wi-Fi PICtail™/PICtail Plus Daughter Board (part # AC164136-2) are immediately available at www.microchipDIRECT.com, and through the Microchip sales team. Microchip provides an optimized Wi-Fi solution for embedded designers, including modules for Microchip’s 8-, 16- and 32-bit PIC® microcontrollers (MCUs) and dsPIC® Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs).

A youth volunteer uses a microchip reader to see if this endangered Wyoming toad came from a breeding facility.
Adult captive-reared toads that are 20 grams or more are micro chipped prior to release. Microchips are similar to the those that are placed in domestic animals - except they are much smaller in size. This toad was found at Mortenson NWR and had been released on May 30, 2018 as part of Wyoming toad recovery effort.
