TinkerBell returned home 10 days ago. I was astounded when PetLink called me to say that she had been found by a kind man 5 miles from my home. This man took her in to have her checked for a microchip and within a few hours she was back home with us. She was TiaMaria's best friend before she disappeared, her return has given my aging dog a new lease of life ❤ I'll never know how she spent the last 2 years, but I am delighted beyond words that she is home!

Maybe, one day, Miss Bippity will return to where she is so missed and loved.

This little fellow was found by my neighbor up a tree in his front yard just before the rainstorm started last night. I was his foster parent until this morning. He did not have a microchip and none of the neighbors missed him. We concluded that someone did not want him anymore and just dumped him in my neighbor's yard. We took him to the shelter and he has a name now: Oakley (Oak Valley is the street name). We hope he gets a good home. I would have taken him, especially since he reminds me of a little Norman but Sophie went crazy and attacked me continuously while the baby was in the house.

The Somalis have had their automatic SureFeed feeding machine for a while, but now Bastian also has one, so we can control his kibble consumption. He seems happy with it - at least as long as it is filled...

Last photo of this roller coaster of a year is dedicated to my Beautiful boy Billie. Tragically he passed away at only 15 years young after having a microchip. I had him since he was just 3 months old, Sulphur crested cockatoos can live up until 90 and even 100 in captivity. And boy did we have plans for his next 85 years. He had the most cheekiest, beautiful personality, talked, loved animals- especially my mums jack russell, free- flying , gardening with people, loved music and car trips, adventures, kisses and wing scratches and made everyone that met him smile. Everyone loved him. He was incredibly intelligent. He was my best friend and i miss him so much every day it hurts my heart.

Heaven is so much more brighter now with you flying around up there Bill.

In this house every cat has a feeder which only opens to the right cat's microchip. The idea behind it is to make sure that they stick to their individual diet and can't steal any food from the other cats. In general the method works well but cats are smart, sometimes too smart for their own good. They found out very quickly that the feeders stay open for a moment after their owner has stopped eating and left. In this case Fynn waited for Cleo to leave and allow him to snatch a few kibbles from her feeder before it would close again. He looked grumpy because Cleo had no intention to leave anytime soon (and because he knew that in my presence his chances were close to zero anyway).

No microchip, no collar or name tag, thin, light as a feather, pure breed wire-haired dachshund, found by my kids in the mountains three days ago, the same forest they found Manivela (Crank) in 2019. Went to the vet yesterday, and he said his age is perhaps 2 yo, and all the health tests are excellent, made a neutering appointment for July. A sweetie! He is now our nb.19 and still looking for a name.

For sure, he is also one of the toys that rich people buy for themselves or their children and soon get bored.

We did not realize how old our Snoopy look (she is 12 now) until we saw them together.

Latest news about Sparrow - she grew a bit and stronger, and soon, when she will be able to eat alone only, she will be transferred to a bigger aviary, to learn how to fly properly. There is a long way to freedom but she is on the right way, I am so happy!

What's even tougher is the diet and it hasn't been an overwhelming success so far. In months of a strict diet Cleo has lost 2 lbs. It's better than nothing and her mobility has improved but she has to lose more weight ... a lot more. And now it gets winter, a time when her activity level is close to zero. She already gets tiny portions of food compared to what the boys eat and the vet says that we can't reduce her daily ration any further because that would be even more dangerous for her health than her overweight. Feeding the cats is difficult these days. Cleo and Fynn both need their special diet food and are not supposed to touch the food Linus gets. As a result Linus is losing weight because he doesn't have constant access to food anymore as otherwise Cleo and Fynn would eat it too. I have now ordered a microchip controlled cat feeder for Linus which only opens for the cat with the right microchip. Let's hope he will use it.

No more visiting the Kodak counter in the drug store.
