Whilst the ZuidPlein, its buildings and its surrounding are being redeveloped (Hart van Zuid), the metro station is still its functionalist self. And will stay that way (apart from the new entry building).
The station was designed by Rotterdam Municipal Works ( Gemeente werken). Shortly after its completion (and that of its neighbouring stations, Maashaven en Rijnhaven) in the late 60s, it wasn't very well rated during an international architecture contest. The jurors wrote: "It's the epitome of civil disobedient engineers' work".

This is number 693 of Rotterdam architecture.
Pushkinskaya (Russian: Пу́шкинская) is a station of the Saint Petersburg Metro. It first opened on 30 April 1956, under the original name of "Vitebskiy vokzal".
There is a monument in the station dedicated to the poet Alexander Pushkin sculpted by Mikhail Anikushin. This station was the first USSR metro station with memorial located under the ground.
The Metro system exhibits many typical Soviet designs and features exquisite decorations and artwork making it one of the most attractive and elegant metros in the world. Due to the city's unique geology, the Saint Petersburg Metro is one of the deepest metro systems in the world and the deepest by the average depth of all the stations. The system's deepest station, Admiralteyskaya, is 86 metres below ground. Serving about 2 million passengers daily, it is also the 19th busiest metro system in the world.

The Metro collection features pieces inspired by architecture. The console is inspired by modern architecture that can be seen on classic modern staples such as The Metropolitan Opera in NYC. The lamps are inspired by pyramids found across the world from Asia to South America.

Chatswood to Sydenham.
From the outback to the big smoke, venturing into Sydney for the opening of the newest edition to Sydney Metro.
Jen and I got off and on all the stations and checked out the architecture and art work.
Quite a nice addition to the city transport needs moving people efficiently and keeping vehicle congestion at bay.
The first service of the day on the other end of the line left Tallawong in the city's north-west at 4:38am.
Originally the driverless line only ran from Tallawong to Chatswood, with construction of the new 15.5 kilometre section started in 2017.

The train stations of Sydney's CBD have been little more than grubby pit stops, but those behind the new metro project hope that its gleaming stations with architectural-scale artworks will have commuters looking twice.
The wider service will stop at metro stations throughout the city including Chatswood, Crows Nest, Victoria Cross, Barangaroo, Martin Place, Gadigal, Central and Waterloo before terminating at Sydenham.
Sydney Metro's newest train line runs under the harbour bridge and through the heart of the city.
The extended section of the M1 line is up and running after the opening of the $21.6 billion project was delayed last week due to safety regulator approvals.
