One of the most common methods of heroin use is via intravenous injection. When taken orally, heroin undergoes extensive first-pass metabolism via deacetylation, making it a prodrug for the systemic delivery of morphine.[1] When the drug is injected, however, it avoids this first-pass effect, very rapidly crossing the blood-brain barrier due to the presence of the acetyl groups, which render it much more lipid-soluble than morphine itself.[2] Once in the brain, it is deacetylated into 3- and 6-monoacetylmorphine and morphine, which bind to μ-opioid receptors resulting in intense euphoria with the feeling centered in the gut.
Frequent administration has a high potential for causing addiction and may quickly lead to tolerance. If a continual, sustained use of heroin for as little as three days is stopped abruptly, withdrawal symptoms can appear. This is much shorter than the withdrawal effects experienced from other common painkillers such as oxycodone and hydrocodone.[3][4]
Internationally, heroin is controlled under Schedules I and IV of the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs.[5] It is illegal to manufacture, possess, or sell heroin in the United States and the UK. However, under the name diamorphine, heroin is a legal prescription drug in the United Kingdom. Popular street names for heroin include black tar, smack, junk, skag, horse, brain, chaw, chiva, and others. These are specific references to heroin and not used to describe any other drug. Dope could be used to refer to heroin, but may also indicate other drugs, from laudanum a century ago to nearly any contemporary recreational drug.Hell dog www.eschlerart.com

This frame demonstrates a few of the different movement styles, and torch styles that were employed. Be it batons, poi, hoops, staves, swords, or blankets, it was an impressive show.

I was driving through Amish country today and saw these great Oat Shocks. This is an old-world method of harvesting Oats that the Amish still practice today.
The lost wax casting method involves making a wax model, investing it in a mold, and then melting the wax out of the mold to form a cavity into which a glass replica can be cast.
Wax models can be made in several ways, ranging from hand modeling with beeswax or a similar easily molded wax to casting from a latex or other master mold. Wax can be poured into a pan to form sheets which can then be cut and formed.
Regardless of the method used, the creation of the wax model is the first step to using the lost wax process. Once this model has been made, it should be encased in the investment material (usually a plaster/silica mixture).
Once the investment dries, the wax should be removed from the model by inverting the mold over a pan of water and heating it to about 225 degrees F. The wax will drip out into the pan. Be careful not to heat much above this temperature and don't allow all of the water to evaporate. Since wax is flammable, it can catch fire if it is allowed to get too hot.
After the wax has been melted out, the mold is ready to be cured and fired as described in the main body of this chapter. As the glass pieces melt in the mold, they will fill the spaces once occupied by the wax, a process that gives this technique its name.
With careful reclaiming, the wax can be used again in a later project.
I do some occassional freelance consulting work for a few select government agencies that have people stashed away here and there in cramped, dark basement offices who like to think out of the box.
And when I say "think out of the box", I'm not referring to the normal corporatespeak horseshit of thinking out of the box where Jonathan, who's always wearing the stupid art print ties that really do little to change anyone's perception of him as ass-kissing douchebag who just happens to wear a lot of art print ties, bangs his first on the table and says "let's take tax advantages of a write-down domestically, sell the banned product to developing nations under a multi-layered interlocking system of shell companies, have the cash take a ski trip to the Alps - I think you all know what I mean - and when they finish they're vacation, voila, they're assets on the balance sheet of our subprime mortgage arm." No. That's friggin' kids stuff.
On our skunkworks projects, we use REAL out of the box thinking to solve organizational problems by using a variation of Dali's Paranoid Critical Method where the problem solver intentionally wills himself into a temporary psychotic state in order to approach a mundane problem or set of facts in a radically different way.
This is an example of one of our recent breakthroughs combining perceptual mapping with the Paranoid Critical Method to solve the DOD's problems with declining enlistment and retention levels. It's code name is Operation Freedom Boner.

Method
Large soft drink bottles cut at the taper and placed in 6 inch pots cut in half with a strip of downpipe to assist stability and security of the bottle.
The bottles sit inside a foam vegetable box on top of a small heat pad set at 22 degrees celsius.
Hydroponics stores may be able to supply the heat pad. Not sure of cost.
Dave has so far specialised in rare Elaeocarpaceae but has had excellent success with a range of species.
Application of water is by spray bottle but must be done sparingly to avoid over damping. Dave feels he has had more success striking cuttings in mid to late winter on the NSW Mid North Coast than summer due to the ability to manage moisture levels in the pots better, with less chance of drying out. He also does not use any fertilizer until it is clear the plants have taken root and are well established.
Dave says a 50% success rate is about average for relatively easy to moderately hard to strike species.
A quarter inch hole in the top of the bottle allows access for watering or the bottle can be easily lifted off.
Potting Mix
One third perlite, one third sharp sand, one third peat moss.
OR a commercial mix like Debco Cutting Mix - 3 parts to 1 part perlite.
I would be interested to hear if others may recommend other methods and mixes. This one does work well with many of my own plants starting life in one of these pots.
