A gift from a friend. What does your junk say about you? I've typed in notes of what these things evoke in me.
My image of the "Faerie Madonna" appearing on the front cover of (The Spirit Guide to) Spellcraft #14 (Beltaine 2009)-- the premiere Pagan/metaphysical/Wiccan magazine for the Southern Hemisphere! This is my (recently) former roommate and friend Brenda Senechal as she was painted in 2004 for a dance ritual. I have an interior image ("The Spring Maiden" featured here as well as a half-page feature on myself illustrated by a recent photo of myself as The Blue Man. For more art see my website: paulruckerart.com, in particular the Camera Paintings Gallery;

The main focus of this bracelet are the genuine faceted oval Botswana Agate gemstones with banded colors of greys, whites, and browns. Accenting the Botswana agates are genuine Swarovski crystals in Aquamarine Satin and sterling silver bead caps. The toggle clasp is an oval sterling silver filigree design.
The bracelet measures 8" (20.3cm) in length, but fits like a 7 1/4" (18.4cm) bracelet.
In the pictures, the toggle looks too big for the bracelet but it isn''''t. On, it is very nice and balanced.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Below is some information about the physical and metaphysical properties of the Botswana Agate gemstone.
Agate is the name for number of types of banded Chalcedonies, which is a variety of Quartz. Agates carry a quiet energy that works on the subtle bodies, and are great for achieving stability and balance in many aspects of one’s life. Agates tend to work behind the scenes on the cause, instead of the symptom, of an issue.
Specifically, BOTSWANA AGATE can help those who have repressed emotional issues that need to be addressed. Botswana Agate is thought to have an anti-depressant quality. Botsawana Agate can be helpful for those who are struggling to be genuine in their lifestyle, as it promotes an understanding of the need for deeper meaning.
Carry Botswana Agate to promote creative ability in any project or goal. Botswana Agate promotes creativity, and encourages one to find solutions rather than focusing on negative aspects of daily challenges. Crystal healers like to use Botswana Agate for it''''s soothing and calming qualities.

“Sometimes fate is like a small sandstorm that keeps changing directions. You change direction but the sandstorm chases you. You turn again, but the storm adjusts. Over and over you play this out, like some ominous dance with death just before dawn. Why? Because this storm isn't something that blew in from far away, something that has nothing to do with you. This storm is you. Something inside of you. So all you can do is give in to it, step right inside the storm, closing your eyes and plugging up your ears so the sand doesn't get in, and walk through it, step by step. There's no sun there, no moon, no direction, no sense of time. Just fine white sand swirling up into the sky like pulverized bones. That's the kind of sandstorm you need to imagine.
And you really will have to make it through that violent, metaphysical, symbolic storm. No matter how metaphysical or symbolic it might be, make no mistake about it: it will cut through flesh like a thousand razor blades. People will bleed there, and you will bleed too. Hot, red blood. You'll catch that blood in your hands, your own blood and the blood of others.
And once the storm is over you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure, in fact, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm you won't be the same person who walked in. That's what this storm's all about.”
― Haruki Murakami
Sorry for the small photo.
I should take a pic of my own copy of this book.
Author Craig Conley's most recent book is the above title, a very humorous series of essays, experiments and actual OBJECTS (?!) all addressing metaphysical ideas in literature--but in an EXTREMELY playful way.
I LOVE this book.
Okay, I'll admit complicity since the author included some writing by myself on the same topic in more than one place in this book.
It was actually a surprise to discover this when the book arrived on my birthday, a complete coincidence of the sort Professor Oddfellow (author Craig Conley's literary alter ego) seems to have no problem introducing into the universe's quantum mechanical weave on a daily--no, hourly--basis.
The book can be found here: www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=node%3D11871&fiel...
And Professor Oddfellow's deliciously outre and justly celebrated blog can be found here: www.oneletterwords.com/weblog/
The Abecedarian blog has earned Craig fans worldwide.
Conley is also a lexicographer and a magician in more than just words--more than just a logodaedalus.
He's known to consort with and speak publicly to various coalitions of professional magicians in Las Vegas.
This is why I would recommend reading the man's fascinating words, but keeping far afield of his actual person, as the "Vegas" and "magicians" connection should make you "damn nervous."
(I'm kidding, Craig! I love the book.)
Here's a brief but perceptive review of the book by Bernie DeKoven: www.deepfun.com/fun/2013/01/scholarly-fun/
So says one of the many zany characters, the Professor, in this 1991 classic by famied Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami, that makes your head spin as he weaves a tale of two cities, inside one mind, and takes us down the rabbit-hole with him.
Murakami writes with an all-world sensibility and a world beating imagination, creating twin worlds in the mind of his unnamed protagonist, a 35-year old information analyst in modern-day Tokyo who finds himself in the middle of an information war with his skewered consciousness the battleground. The life of the mind is Murakami's preoccupation here, as his main character wages a battle in an alternative consciousness self-constructed to sagfeguard himself from the scientific experiments that have brought him to the center of attention here. The ever-present influences of Western cinema, literature & music, classical and modern, pervade Murakami's fluid, challenging prose but fortunately don't taint the conclusion of his novel, which leaves the reader guessing as future of our anti-hero.

Luna, my Luna, you glow upon my path in the night...
Amara eeps softly from her position by the taxi. "Ah, umm, you asked us to find things worthy of this new family, so to speak. I noticed that there weren't many supplies in case someone got hurt." She lowers her ears a moment before speaking again. "I originally planned on searching for old bed frames or something I could refurbish to build a medical suite of sorts. Oddly enough though, I ran into a vampiric lycan with Black Market connections. She gave me this kit, and as you can see, it's well stocked."
Trinity raises her eyebrows looking impressed. "Very good kitten," she says softly giving her a light smile. "I'm rather impressed," she admits. Reaching up, having flickered her eyes to see Ioh's ears droop, she touches one of his ears, comfortingly caressing them with one hand to the tips before she let go of him again and moves to Amara. "You know your medicine well it seems. Or at least supplies," she adds with a soft laugh. She leans against the side of the taxi, tail sweeping the ground and tush slightly stuck out. Her arms fold over it and she asks, "What have you found for us?" Trinity peeks up looking at the bag and then Amara.
Amara glances down at the medium sized med kit. "Well there's several forms of bandages, a few suture kits, cold/hot packs, what else?" She opens another compartment of the bag. "Tourniquets, blanket for retaining body heat, a lot of gauze, syringes, antiseptic wipes, and antibiotic ointment." That sounds like enough to items to Amara. She smirks before zipping the bag closed. "I'll keep trying to find the scrapper person though."
Ioh hears Amara speak of her success in her hunt for something to give to the family. He smiles a bit, and his ears perk back up a bit. Certainly, also the caressing of one of his ears also helps to perk them up as well. As Trinity goes to see what Amara has brought, Ioh too turns around and approaches the taxi cab, curious himself as to what was in the kit. He doesn't speak though, and looks on from near the front of the car.
Trinity Smiles and mews gently. "Very good Amara.. You have passed your first task and passed well." She chimes gentle.

To discover that metaphysical Tree which hid
From my worldling look its brilliant vein
Far deeper in gross wood
Than axe could cut.
But before I might blind sense
To see with the spotless soul,
Each particular quirk so ravished me
Every pock and stain bulked more beautiful
Than flesh of any body
Flawed by love's prints.
— Sylvia Plath “On The Plethora Of Dryads”

*Metaphysical Properties of Amethyst:
Also known as the "Sobriety Stone". Amethyst is purple quartz, and is a meditative and calming stone. It works in the emotional, spiritual, and physical planes to provide calm, balance, patience, and peace. Amethyst is also beneficial when dealing with legal problems and money issues, which can lead to prosperity and abundance. Amethyst has a gentle, sedative energy that promotes peacefulness, happiness, and contentment. Amethyst can help get rid of addictions (alcohol, drugs, smoking, etc.) and compulsive behaviors of all kinds. In the psychic and spiritual realms, amethyst is an excellent all-purpose stone that can increase spirituality and enhance intuition and psychic powers of all kinds. It does this by making a clear connection between the earth plane and other planes and worlds. Amethyst also protects against psychic attacks, especially during spiritual work, and protects one from thieves, and protects travelers. Physically, amethyst is beneficial for reducing withdrawal symptoms of all kinds, blood sugar imbalances, depression, general healing, left brain imbalances, headaches, arthritis, insomnia, nightmares, other sleep disorders, ADD/ADHD, generalized anxiety, ear aches, circulatory system issues, endocrine system problems, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, immune system deficiencies, and general healing.
Primarily, amethyst is associated with the third eye and crown chakras but can also open the heart chakra.
