An open notebook.
I used the notebook as a way to represent self reflection through writing or drawing. I think this is a conceptual shot due to the angle and mood created in this photo.
Maple leaves from our front yard in Northern Michigan against a black contrast...maybe a metaphor for my mood of approaching winter!
Metaphor, the tree of Utah is an 87-foot-tall (27 m) sculpture that was created by the Swedish artist Karl Momen in the 1980s and dedicated in 1986. Located in the desolate Great Salt Lake Desert of Utah to the North of the west bound side of Interstate 80, about 25 miles East of Wendover, midway between the former railroad communities of Arinosa and Barro. The sculpture, which is constructed mainly of concrete, consists of a squarish 'trunk' holding up six spheres that are coated with natural rock and minerals native to Utah. There are also several hollow sphere segments on the ground around the base.
Inscribed on the plaque are the words from Ode to Joy by Friedrich Schiller; also used as the chorus of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. It has been said that Momen was moved to create the 87-foot-tall tree after having a vision of a tree while driving across the desolate Bonneville Salt Flats.
Looking at life through the bottom of a pint glass.
Although I never actually made it out today so it only had water in it.... shame ;)
Monday!
So I tied this into the previous picture because from what I understood, she's kind of ready to grow up. In this picture, the girl is clinging to childhood (literally) when faced with all of the stresses of college around her (the books). I removed blue colors from the photograph in order to create a more cold scene, since this is definitely not a happy photograph.
Apparently in London you need a license to keep something in the closet.
I can relate... in a roundabout way. My life has been dominated by city permits & licenses recently, and I can assure you that closets are never easy.
I know it's hard to see, but that big ugly lump of pink stuff in the blurry background is suppose to be a heart. I made this years and years ago with ribbons. This is actually a smaller version of another white one...

I have always been a fan of metaphors and I think this craft (yes, that big lump of pink stuff) represents the heart very well. It's incredibly hard to make, but with someone's help, it's a bit easier. The pieces are fairly easy to create, but assembling the "heart" is a whole new story. When it's complete, it's super fragile. The pieces can become undone easily and the whole thing can literally "break". Surprisingly, if you leave the alone hanging, it can last for years.
A beautiful windy sky with white cumulus cloud puffs makes for a wonderful Christmas Eve day - and then there was this added bonus of a stork flying overhead just as I snapped this photo - could he be on his way to Bethlehem?

Metaphor has figured out how to open kitchen cabinets.
Now all I need to do is teach him how to put away the dishes.
Forward movement, transcending into the future. Are we caterpillars, consuming everything in sight before we enter the cocoon? What happens to us once we end up in a cocoon...... We turn into butterflies, and fly.
