at the end of the line is the sound of your voice
and the words that I can't that I never shall say
those words that people fear when they don't make them laugh
that have been too often in books, songs and movies
words I'd like to tell you and words I'd like to live
words I never shall say : I want to, I just can't
I'm so lonesome I could die and I know where you are
I'm coming, wait for me, I know you, you know me
Will you spare me some time 'cause I'll give you all mine
I'd like to come to you, but I always stay
I never come to you : I want to, I just can't
I ought to speak to you, I ought to be with you
or at least try to sleep
I'm afraid you'll be deaf, I'm afraid you'll escape
afraid I'm too forward and I never shall say
that I've fallen for you
but if you think you could love me tomorrow
don't be afraid of memories and sorrow
we'll flee the past where we can leave tomorrow
come and rescue me
if you think you could love me tomorrow
don't be afraid if the path looks narrow
between the past and the life tomorrow
come and rescue me
if you're fed up with your life
and find no way
when every day is just another yesterday
think of me, think of me
but if you think you could love me tomorrow
don't wait a day, don't waste a time you can't know
where will your life lead from here tomorrow
come and rescue me
if you think you could love me tomorrow
run, take my hand, and where you go I'll follow
I need a sign so I can let my love show
come and rescue me
if you're fed up with your life
and find no way
when every day is just another yesterday
think of me, think of me
but if you...

The Postcard
A Plastichrome Series postcard by Colourpicture Publishers Inc. of Norwich, Norfolk. The colour photograph was by A. W. Besley. and the card was produced in the United States. In the back of the card the publishers have printed:
'The Harbour, St. Ives.
St. Ives is a picturesque Cornish
fishing town popular with artists
and tourists.
Located by roads A3074, B3306
and 3311, the town has a fine
harbour and many attractive
beaches.'
The card was posted in St. Ives using a 4d. stamp on Saturday the 31st. May 1969. It was sent to:
Mr. & Mrs. W. Matthews,
39, Church Road,
Southall,
Middlesex.
The message on the divided back of the card was as follows:
"Carrack Gladden Hotel,
Carbis Bay.
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Matthews,
Hope Mrs. M. is feeling
better.
Enjoying our stay here -
wonderful views.
Going to Falmouth
tomorrow.
Weather not too bad.
Kind regards,
W. S. & L. Burchill."
Over 50 years later the Carrack Gladden name lives on, although at some point in its history, the hotel was converted into apartments. The following information is provided on the Internet:
'Carrack Gladden Apartments are perfectly positioned directly above the beach at Carbis Bay, boasting stunning elevated panoramic views across St. Ives Bay from St. Ives harbour to Godrevy Lighthouse.
A fabulous choice of one, two or three bedroom apartments are available offering wonderful patio areas or balconies, perfect retreats for sitting back and relaxing. View more holiday apartments in Carbis Bay or read on for further details about Carrack Gladden.
Carrack Gladden is adjacent to the single track railway, perhaps the most scenic in the UK. St. Ives is only 3 minutes away, and the track links to St Erth, Penzance and mainline stations. This is an ideal location to enjoy a car-free holiday.
There is an allocated parking space or garage provided for each property.
- One allocated parking space per booking, a car pass must be shown at all times.
- Landscaped gardens.
- 2 minute walk to Carbis Bay beach.
- 1 minute walk to the scenic rail line for access to St. Ives and surrounding area.

The Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia
So what else happened on the day that the card was posted?
Well, on the 31st. May 1969, the tightening Soviet Union grip on Czechoslovakia continued with the announcement by KSČ General Secretary Gustáv Husák of the removal of eight liberal members of the Communist Party's Central Committee.
Among the more prominent members removed were economist Ota Šik and National Front leader František Kriegel, one of two Central Committee members who had voted against the 18th. October treaty permitting occupation of Czechoslovakia by Soviet troops.
Tommy Roe
Also on that day, the Number One hit record in the UK was 'Dizzy' by Tommy Roe.

Day 257/366 - Sign with so many stickers over it not sure what it originally said. Perhaps "No Skateboarding" ?
This morning I spotted a young person who carried a bag with a message I connected strongly with.
After I processed the image, I realized that the hyper-reality of the situation was exactly how I felt about the scene as it played out before me at 7:06am.
In addition to the tone-mapper application, I used the Gimp to get things the way I wanted. Powerful combination that these open source tools provide, eh?
I love it!

I didn't do the dishes right away after eating a bowl of strawberries, and I am so glad that I didn't because when I came to wash the bowl, I found this "heart", just at a time when I needed it.
