This is an attempt to capture the Milky Way over city of Bath taken from Primrose Hill. One can see a need to stay away from big cities if you want to capture starry sky as all the stars at the bottom are washed out by light pollution even on a clear, cloudless night as this one was. This is a composite of two vertical images each exposed to get panoramic view. Sky exposure (f1.8, 10s, ISO3200) and background exposure (f9, 20s, ISO 3200). Four images were then merged in photoshop. Primrose Hill. Bath, BANES, UK

I took a series of photos of the back of buildings with store fronts on Water Street in Gardiner, Maine. This is a vertical panorama merge. I applied one of the new adaptive presets, cinema, that are in a recent update of Adobe Lightroom. HFF

Today I headed over to Inverallochy / Cairnbulg, East of Fraserburgh to capture a shot of the decaying Sovereign BF30 Fishing Vessel that ran aground near to the Briggs light beacon. It happened on a stormy night on 18/12/05 . All crew were plucked to safety being airlifted by the RAF sea-king. For developing and Processing I used my new lightroom CC HDR merge function for the first time to try it out. It is thought that this wreck inspired the artwork for the movie "life of Pi"
Grenzgletscher (Border Glacier), in the centre of the image, flowing down the valley between the high peaks Dufourspitze (4634 m, background left) and Liskamm (aka Lyskamm, 4533 m, background right), and Gornergletscher (Gorner Glacier), joining the scene from the left. Even though Grenzgletscher is the dominant tributary, downstream of the merger the glacier is called Gornergletscher (foreground right). Seen from the 3100 metres high Gornergrat (Gorner Ridge; canton of Valais, Switzerland), which can be reached by rack railway from the resort village of Zermatt.
That was the situation in 1992. Meanwhile, the European Alps have been affected heavily by glacier melt and retreat due to global warming, and as a consequence the upper Gornergletscher has lost contact to its lower part.

40 Grad Urban Art Festivals 2024
Artists: ANNA TARATIEL & BONA_BERLIN
The Riverside, Phnom Penh
Pigeons at the Riverside are so tame, they will actually eat right out of your hand. The one above just flew in to say hi and to see if my camera was edible. 😁
In the photo above, you're actually looking across The Tonle Sap River, away from the city. A five minute walk from here, The Tonle Sap merges with The Mekong River. This area of Phnom Penh is known as The Riverside, home of The Royal Palace, The National Museum, Wat Ounalom and dozens of cafes, bars, restaurants and hotels.
There is a wide, paved pedestrian sidewalk running along the rivers, which makes it a popular hangout for foreigners and locals alike. Especially after sunset, when it cools off.

I took the original photo of the painting into Ostagram and merged it with a photo of cogs. I also ran the background photo that I used through Ostagram using the same cog photo.

Topaz Studio was used to create the color treatment.

Art photo composited 10/30/24
{I think most photographers don't just automatically share their process, but I've been doing it for a while on my Facebook photography page for those interested, and sometimes do so here on Flickr as well.}
This is a composited image sewn together in Photoshop from two photos taken on the same day at the same place, and pretty much with the camera aimed in the same direction but at different times. Photos taken on Oct. 22, 2022. Processing took a couple of days off and on and was completed this morning 10/30/24.
The foreground is at El Matador State Beach. I composited the sunset shot from one I took farther up the beach about a half hour later. The foreground of the sunset shot wasn't that interesting, and the foreground shot here didn't have an interesting sky, so I merged the two. I also expanded the sunset itself which was much smaller and farther off on the horizon.
When doing something like this, I pay attention to the edges of the foreground image and the lighting. I darkened those two rocks extending up into the sky, but they might still be too light. I also experimented with the lighting and color correction filters in Topaz Photo AI but was not satisfied with the "computer's" results.
I had a bit of trouble with the clone brush getting the area of ocean between the rocks to match with the sunset, and tried various tools including the removal tool (the one I use to make people disappear). It's not a major part of the image, but while the sunset to the left of the rock looks okay to me, the area to the right does not.
I'm cognizant of the fact most everyone who views digital photography on a website like Facebook, Instagram or Flickr does so on their phones. I've seen images which look "amazing" on a phone but if blown up look out of focus and full of noise. I use a lot of processing tools, and go in to pixel depth to sometimes correct an area I find problematical in one of my images. My images are meant to be seen on the largest screen possible, and they're still sharp and vibrant. (or at least I hope they are. 😁)

Decided to try my hand at a merged photo. Bonsai rock was not very well lit so took a photo before night and then merged it with the night sky.
I have finally finished my course and would like to share my final submissions with you. This is the first inspired by Andy Warhol.
1.Fifteen.
“In the future, everyone will be famous for 15 minutes.”
(Andy Warhol)
In today’s world of social media platforms, people are searching for their 15 minutes of fame. Celebrities seem to be the new gods. They are lauded and applauded. They are made larger than life and are given the gloss of perfection.
I chose to create a pop art photo of a singer song writer who could have achieved his 15 minutes of fame. I thought that by using vibrant colours and the same image, on vibrantly coloured backgrounds and applying different blendes, I could create a shot suggestive of the exaltation given to celebrities.
