The sky was on fire and I was allowed to witness - a truly spectacular show.
It took so long that I had time to take a series of portrait shots. I later merged them into a panorama in GIMP.

After a very wet sunrise??? shoot at Kilchurn castle I was soaked and decided a wee trip into St Conan's Kirk would at least get me out the rain... Once I got in the sun came out... typical and made for some interesting light and shadows. Too much dynamic range for even the R5 to cope with so I bracketed and merged exposures using affinity's HDR tool which came out ok... Im always very careful not to push the sliders too much though so as not to cause those garish HDR blends you see.

Just trying my hand at merging the sky and water so there is no horizon.

At this time of transition, it seems the seasons merge together, faded fall colours, a dumping of snow and a little festive decor.

The small towns of Graymont (founded 1896) and Summit (founded 1885) merged in the 1920's to form Twin City. This is the old combo city hall/jail house for the town.

Abstract:
Even more than 30 years after the reunification of Germany this borderless borderland still exists between the two former German states. The once strictly guarded border divided two opposite political views and economic systems and the world of every citizen on both sides ended there for decades. After the reunification this area became the geographical center of Germany and the two societies had to be merged, especially there. This unique history has formed the people as well as their environment since then into a special society. This work tries to compile a topography of this social landscape.
