Ambulance and Police staff look on as Firefighters begin their efforts to bring the inferno under control.
With Belshotmuir closed to normal bus modelling business pending the completion of a larger, improved diorama of the same name, over the past few days I have taken to modelling more of my emergency service vehicles. A member of one of the Facebook groups where I shared those pictures requested to see my Fire & Rescue models, which brought about this shoot.
Story -
This afternoon a 999 call alerted Scottish Fire & Rescue Service to a report of smoke escaping from the first floor window of the closed down bus depot in Belshotmuir. A pump ladder and Aerial Rescue Pump/Aerial Ladder Platform were mobilised. On arrival thick smoke was noted to be issuing from both the first floor window and roof space, with flames noted in the window. A request was made to Fire Control to make pumps three. Police were also requested to enable road closures, with Fire Control also contacting Ambulance Control to notify them. With SAS’s Special Operations Response Team (SORT) already being committed to a call, ACC dispatched one AEU to attend for Firefighter welfare. The fire was brought under control and a structural assessment will take place.
Reality -
One additional standard “pedestrian” figure was painted into Firefighter uniform (including a SCBA tank) and placed into the Aerial basket.
With no flashing LED’s etc to hand, a circle of clear plastic was cut from packaging and painted orange, before being placed over the end of a torch with flash ability, the torch then being placed inside the building.
The smoke is a mixture of both painted and unpainted cotton wool.
A Saint John Ambulance Service Mercedes-Benz Sprinter attending an emergency call at Belfast City Hall. Police were first on the scene followed shortly by St John Ambulance, and then the NIAS Rapid Response Vehicle. Some time later, an ambulance from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service also arrived on scene.
Quite a rare sight.
More photos and a light demo of the SJA Sprinter coming soon.

NOTE ON GROUPS
Usually I'd post this to more groups but, unfortunately, the ridiculous new limit on the number of groups that a picture can be added to prevents this.
If any group admins would like the picture in their particular group I'm afraid you'll either have to invite it or www.flickr.com/photos/49478289@N04/39369945231/in/album-7... the posting limit for your chosen group.
If you don't know about the new group posting limits that were introduced by the back door a few weeks ago and would like to change your group back to the way it used to be, here is the link on how to do it:--

Basking in the late afternoon sunshine on the coastal road at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
Being a bit of an anorak, I still don't know why the battenburg livery has been applied so high up on the newer batch of Sprinters. The older EEAS units never had it and, to my knowledge, neither do any other NHS ambulances.

Or inside two ambulances!
We kinda broke the first one, which is a shame as it was a Fiat! Now we are stuck with a Merc..
At least I've had my cappuccino! 😁☕🚑

Vectare Mercedes Sprinter RX70SKZ (204) seen as it heads through Cropwell Bishop with the 10:40 anti-clockwise 833, the spire of the Grade I-listed St Giles visible in the background.
The 833 which offers hourly clockwise and anti-clockwise circulars from Bingham around what I would term the northern end of the Stilton belt, taking in the villages of Aslockton, Orston, Granby, Langar, Cropwell Bishop, and Cropwell Butler. It requires two vehicles which generally take the form of leather-seated Mercedes Sprinters, and came about in May 2019 to offer buses to the villages not covered by CT4N's 33 after the Yourbus 822 was withdrawn.

* Peking Road's English spelling was decided when Peking was the common spelling. When the Communist China changed the spelling to Beijiing in the latter half of the 20th century, the spelling of the street was not changed.
