A few years ago, I had a film camera that I carried around with me that did not force the user to wind the film after every shot, allowing for multiple exposures. I made a point to only ever advance the film when I was just about to take a picture, and if I couldn't remember if I'd already used the current frame, I did not advance the film. These are images of things I wanted to remember, blurred into each other as a result of lapses in my memory.
The woods are swept with hurricane memories, littered with leaves and broken branches. It's raining again, but less wild this time, sending a sleepy trickle drifting down the hillside. It's steep both ways, very little level ground to rest on, but these lost roads carry an incomparable kind of mystery. Washouts keep digging deeper, silt swept downhill until it finds an escaping stream. A strange dream shaped by missing pieces, fill in the blanks with jagged rocks and new growth shouldering for space. I feel like I'm hurtling someplace, like a train without a track, trying to escape the rails. Every bend mends something in my mind, the need to know what's next, but not too far ahead. It's harder on the way back, taking each turn in reverse. My heart is pounding, thumping like each foot falling. Heavy breaths of a pace kept by no one's standard but mine. There's a line on the map, and it's all that defines me. Some blinking dot, some scurrying ant on a north/south path. Each step in sequence says the same thing, I just want to belong, I need to hear the words: "It's not right that you've left". But even though I'll go, I'll be coming back again.

Tied my soul into a knot and got me to submit
So when I got away, I only kept my scars
The other me is gone"

Memories may be beautiful and yet, what's too painful to remember we simply choose to forget.
So it's the laughter we will remember, whenever we remember the way we were.

Memory and Light - Padova's memorial to the victims of 9/11.
Daniel Libeskind’s September 11 Memorial – Memory and Light – in Padova pays tribute to the victims of the 2001 terrorist attacks in America.
It is a 17-metre tall structure of steel and glass, with a girder from the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre in New York built into its body, donated by the US Department of State.

The bird belonged to my grandmother and was tame and could talk and sing. I love how this picture is composed! This brings back faded memories ... merry christmas everyone!
PS: The bird was so tame and curious it always ate what we ate and as you can see here my food ... Original shot by grandma, original scan by me. Original posting idea inspired by chcharlie!

When I think about the things I tried when I was young I get chills. There is no way that I would go down a big hill today on a skateboard. I still have a scar on my arm to show my children that I was a daredevil in my youth. When we were on skateboards there was no such thing as wearing elbow and knee pads, or even a helmet. When it came to fashion you knew you were in style if your parents could afford to buy a pair of converse sneakers. I've really admire the new boot pair of converse sneakers, I don't know if I'm cool enough to pull off wearing them, so for now I just admire them. Inspiration from Pink Sherbert Photography

The memory of Eliza (beloved wife) is become a little overgrown in the small but neat graveyard of St Benet's church in Cambridge.
If you grew up (or lived) in Indianapolis any time after 1960, these three penguins should bring back fond memories. The bronze statues of Wynkin, Blynkin and Nod playing with their silver ball were created by Kansas City sculptor Arthur Craft for display at the Glendale Shopping Center on the northeast side of Indianapolis. They stood in an open area in the center of the mall, near a wonderfully kinetic water fountain. When the mall was remodeled in 2005, the statues were moved downstairs, just outside a branch of the Indianapolis Public Library. In 2016 they were loaned to the Indianapolis Zoo, where they are currently displayed in the Oceans building as seen in this photo.
I wasn't aware that the statues still existed when I visited the zoo in 2018, so I shed a few tears of nostalgic joy when I saw them for the first time in many years.
Instead of a new year's resolution, I made a memories jar, you put in things that you accomplished during the year, and then take a look at it all when the year has ended.
I found last night an album of old pics of members of "my family tree".
