"Gardening is one of the late joys, for youth is too impatient, too self-absorbed, and usually not rooted deeply enough to create a garden. Gardening is one of the rewards of middle age, when one is ready for an impersonal passion, a passion that demands patience, acute awareness of a world outside oneself, and the power to keep on growing through all the times of drought, through the cold snows, toward those moments of pure joy when all failures are forgotten and the plum tree flowers."
May Sarton, Journal of a Solitude, 1975
Painting, acrylics on wood. Background: Wanted to paint this for some time. Got the idea on a warm and calm summer day when I took a photo of my son, and the sea and the sky just seemed to blend together and it was not possible to see where one ended and one started.
Hazy Italian sunset.

Established in 1872, Yellowstone National Park is America's first national park. Located in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, it is home to a large variety of wildlife including grizzly bears, wolves, bison, and elk. Preserved within Yellowstone National Park are Old Faithful and a collection of the world's most extraordinary geysers and hot springs, and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.
Yellowstone contains approximately one-half of the world’s hydrothermal features. There are over 10,000 hydrothermal features, including over 300 geysers, in the park.
Yellowstone National Park spans an area of 3,472 square miles (8,987 km²), comprising lakes, canyons, rivers and mountain ranges. Yellowstone Lake is one of the largest high-altitude lakes in North America and is centered over the Yellowstone Caldera, the largest supervolcano on the continent. The caldera is considered an active volcano; it has erupted with tremendous force several times in the last two million years. Half of the world's geothermal features are in Yellowstone, fueled by this ongoing volcanism. Lava flows and rocks from volcanic eruptions cover most of the land area of Yellowstone. The park is the centerpiece of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, the largest remaining, nearly-intact ecosystem in the Earth's northern temperate zone.

Terry Hutt, who is often described as the Royal Family’s biggest fan, pictured in his home in the South West surrounded by memories and memorabilia. Taken during an interview with Terry.
Hà Nội, Vietnam, 2008 - Leica M7, Summilux 35, Kodak Tri-X
Under a grudging sun I was wandering on a summer afternoon along a bank of Trúc Bạch lake... where US Navy aviator John McCain was shot down during the Vietnam War on October 26, 1967 by an anti-aircraft missile on a mission against a Hanoi power plant and parachuted wounded. Memories... memories...
I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me,
to see the beauty in the world through my own eyes.
I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me,
to see the beauty in the world through my own eyes.
You used to rock me in the cradle of your arms,
You said you'd hold me till the pains of life were gone.
You said you'd comfort me in times like these and now I need you,
Now I need you, and you are gone.
I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me,
to see the beauty in the world through my own eyes.
Since you've gone and left me, there's been so little beauty,
But I know I saw it clearly through your eyes.
Now the world outside is such a cold and bitter place,
Here inside I have few things that will console.
And when I try to hear your voice above the storms of life,
Then I remember all the things that I was told.
I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me,
to see the beauty in the world through my own eyes.
I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me,
to see the beauty in the world through my own eyes.
I think on the things that made me feel so wonderful when I was young.
I think on the things that made me laugh, made me dance, made me sing.
I think on the things that made me grow into a being full of pride.
I think on these things, for they are true.
I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me,
to see the beauty in the world through my own eyes.
I thought that you were gone, but now I know you're with me,
You are the voice that whispers all I need to hear.
I know a please, a thank you and a smile will take me far,
I know that I am you and you are me and we are one,
I know that who I am is numbered in each grain of sand,
I know that I've been blessed again, and over again.
I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me,
to see the beauty in the world through my own eyes.
I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me,
to see the beauty in the world through my own eyes.

Fabulous song ... if you'd care to listen
While in Hawaii recording and making my own memories. I was able to capture this silhouette of woman doing the same
This took me right back to the late 1960s when I used to ride a Vespa - only mine had more crashbars and mirrors than this one! Those were the days...

I'm sorry for not been commenting on your photos as much as usual. But, again I'm ill. Hope the doctors soon can find out what's wrong.
This photo is taken in the autumn around October, and was one of the last flowers I could find. Found it in my grandma's garden.
Maybe not a "good time" to post autumnal shots, but I dont have anything else to post.
Hope you all will have a great weekend :-)
From conventions, to gifts, to things brought from my childhood or to things I was able to get with the help of friends... The smallest objects bring back the best memories of people and places :)
"Memory is the cerebral function, result of synaptic connections between neurons, through which the human being can remember past experiences."
Part of my Memory series.
Woaah, it looks soo sharp. Argh, thanks a lot flickr .
This is a shot of part of the circuitry on a stick of computer memory. I was playing around with a few old computers last night and when I saw the challenge for the day this idea came to mind. Taken with a Canon 60mm USM Macro lens. Tyep L for a better view.

Today we have the sad task to farewell my grandfather. I remember not long after grandma passed away, he told me he used to call her daffodil. I hope they have now been reunited. To a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who has been a part of our lives for a long time. The world will seem a little emptier without him.
A pictures says 1,000 words.
I thought the idea would be okay but it didn't come out thattt amazing. I cropped it a lot because you could see my door and my desk/computer and stufff.
So for this picture I was kind of in a hurrry because I have to leave soon to see some of my friends. :)
I'm so happy it's a weekend, i'm so incredibally sick of school.
But anyways, have a good weeekend. :D

So isn't it odd how your memory plays tricks on you? Or maybe we just had different tastes back then, or maybe I'm just old. Anyway, I've had a craving lately for popcorn, but not just ANY popcorn - JIFFY POP popcorn.
So today I make a little trip to the grocery store, and with a smile on my face, pay the $1.29 for my little foil pan of popcorn. I come home, eat dinner, and the settle in for the evening and prepare for this FEAST of popcorn.
A few things.....
A. Why didn't I remember how campy it is to shake a tin foil pain of popping corn in my kitchen?
B. Why didn't I remember it pops approximately 2 cups of popcorn before it starts to scorch?
C. Why didn't I remember that it smells like eggs frying while cooking?
D. And MOST importantly, why didn't I remember that it tastes NASTY??
So.......... my craving for popcorn is now gone, and I'm drinking a gallon of water to try and get the nasty taste out of my mouth :)

After a few days of frost with temperatures -3, 0 degrees, overnight there was snowfall and fog which caused havoc across many parts of the UK. Locally was much the same. That aside, the beauty of snowfall and people, families and pets were out in their droves. Please scroll through my photos, I hope you enjoy them :)
