I thought this subject would be hard to find for the Challenge, turned out not to be the case and I had 8 images with the same theme to pick from ... Memories was the original title I gave the image back in Jan of this Year...

I have very fond childhood memories of seeing my grandma work on her sewing machine and memories of me playing under it. I grew up very close to my grandma, and during my 40 years of life she was a consistent, and very important maternal figure to me as we shared a special bond. She often told me she'd hear my voice even when I wasn't there. Grandma went to meet her creator 2 days ago. In the 96 years of her life she always took care of everyone else, generation after generation; I was able to spend the last week of her life with her, tell her how much I love her and being of service as much as I could, and I'm trying hard to find some comfort in that.

When I was at her house I found this music box. I could not believe my eyes, it looks just like hers and it was perfect for my dolls. I learned one of my cousins had gifted it to her some time ago, but grandma was not into material things at all so this never left its box. Mom told me to take it, so I messaged my cousin to let him know his gift is now with me, he was ecstatic to know I will cherish it for as long as I live, and he also thinks this was meant to be with me.

I will miss my grandma for the rest of my days but I will treasure the days I had the privilege of having her here.

Thank you all for the kind thoughts and messages, they mean the world to me, and bear with me as I take some time off 🌹

The Rest was established as a seaside convalescent hospital for the working classes, particularly miners, in 1862, in Porthcawl, Glamorgan. To stay at the ‘Rest’ you needed a ticket from a subscribing organisation, such as a trade union, welfare association, or Co-operative Society.

The photograph captures a dune that once existed. Though I revisited the location years later, the scene was gone, reshaped by nature's hand.

I start to think purpose of the universe. Perhaps once memory collected, its meaning dissipated just like the sands.

At work today I had the opportunity to tell our families story about the loss of one of the most fantastic people I’ve ever been graced to know. My mama is surely missed today as much as the day she left this earth in 1995. As I’m leaving work after talking about what happened I spotted a small patch of moss hanging from the tree. I must say it was a huge surprise to me. Moss does not grow this far north and it reminds me so much of mama and of my home state. I usually say sand is in my blood but seeing that moss today made me realize it is the moss…so beautiful. Florida life is different and if you haven’t ventured that far south you should. The people are laid back and the sun is hot. It is the place I feel most at home and probably will all my life. Just a little remembering tonight, the moss made me do it =)

Started last year but not worked on for the past 10 months, I've finally got time to work on this painting again. Will probably take another 2-3 weeks, concentrating on the right hand side of the house and especially the foreground.

The painting is going to be framed with wood from the actual house located between Ballarat and Daylesford, (Victoria, Australia) thanks kindly to the owners.

Oil on canvas.

Today I'm presenting you some wonderful holiday memories. I'm in Cyprus in the beautiful Trodos Mountains, where I'm driving around in my rental car and making stops here and there to enjoy the views. It's a hot sunny day so I don't need to wear much; just a flimsy satin chemise will do nicely. It's cute and girly in pink, and feels delightfully soft and smooth to touch and on my body. I combined it with black stockings and Mary Jane shoes. The shoes are completely unsuitable for the rough terrain but I refuse to wear ugly hiking boots so I'll have to endure some difficult walking. I'm staying close to the car though so it's not that much of a problem.

Well, did this ever bring back memories! When I was a child, our roller skates needed to be stepped into, with shoes on, and then tightened onto the shoes with a key, which was forever getting lost!

Found in the small town of Jamul on Hwy 94 east of San Diego, Simpson's Nursery and Auto Museum was a fascinating place to go and wander around. They had a wonderful selection of plants and flowers, plus 2 barns full of old cars, trucks and other memorabilia. One barn had old Model A's and Model T's and the like, while the other had muscle cars and hot rods from the 50's to early 70's. Unfortunately, when we tried to visit again a couple of years ago, it was no longer open. (10-02-12-4919)

I had a trip down memory lane when I visited Barry Island this summer

I haven't been there in years.

i can remember coming here by train (what excitement) and we would sit on this very wall, watch the sea

ebbing and flowing and

eat our 'gritty' sandwiches, ( no matter how hard my parents tried to avoid it, we still managed to

get sand on our bread). Even this brings back happy memories and are talked about with laughter,

Those were the days when the summers seemed to be sunny, hot and long.

Why don't you share your childhood memories too.?.....we all have them.

Memory is a way of holding on to the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose.” - Kevin Arnold

Happy birthday Flickr, thanks for making us possible to share our memories and best moments in life!

Memory is like patches of sunlight in an overcast valley, shifting with the movement of the clouds. Now and then the light will fall on a particular point in time, illuminating it for a moment before the wind seals up the gap, and the world is in shadows again.
