ETA 2019: Over 2 years later there is still a significant traffic slowdown. The only solution is to get more people out of their cars.
ETA 2021: late in the year things were finally running 'normally'. When turning north onto the highway the reduced speed limit signs have been removed but usually everyone has to hit the brakes after speeding up in vain. As soon as the on-ramp lanes merge it slows down from overcrowding.
ETA 2022: I don't have to commute in rush hour so I don't have a good feel for whether it saves time for people then but when I go through (usually weekends) it doesn't seem any better than before but it's a lot uglier.

These photos were taken during an active construction project - a megaproject to expand US 41 to six lanes in two different areas with full reconstruction of interchanges.

Reveley's final plan is basically just the reverse of his first - instead of cutting off the top of Greenwich Reach, cut two channels connected by its bottom, isolating the two northern bends instead. Total dock acreage: a "mere" 559.
Given what we now know about river ecology it's just as well the Thames straightening megaproject never took place. On the other hand, the opening titles of EastEnders would have looked very different!

Construction of megaprojects is destroying vast areas of forest, lakes, farmland and coastline north of Istanbul. This protest, on 7th May 2016 outside the Regional Forestry Directorate, was one of many held by Kuzey Ormanları Savunmasi (North Forest Defence)

Zoals het Havenbedrijf Rotterdam zelf al zegt op de site, is het project Maasvlakte 2 zeer fotogeniek. Deze foto is gemaakt op een zondag. Er werd niet gewerkt en je moest achter de hekken blijven.
Wat zou ik graag een keer foto's maken tijdens het werk en dan voorbij de hekken... Het is een indrukwekkend megaproject. Zeer de moeite waard om er eens een kijkje te nemen.

Hola a todos, quisiera pediros vuestra colaboración, tan sólo se necesita vuestra firma y es para lo siguiente.En la zona de El Palmar, en vejer de la Frontera la Junta de Andalucía ha dado luz verde a un megaproyecto urbanistico, un campo de golf y una zona industrial en la línea del litoral, amenazando claramente el habitat de estos animalitos, yo este verano he tenido la oportunidad de verlos y disfrutar con su presencia, en una zona de no más de 300mts he podido contabilizar hasta 10 ejemplares, varios de ellos adultos reproductores. Yo no tengo intereses en la zona, pero si un profundo amor y respeto por la naturaleza igual que muchos de vosotros así pues se me ha ocurrido que quizas entre todos podíamos ayudar. Existe una asociacón PELP que es la encargada de gestionar todo y es quien está llevando a cabo la recolecta de firmas, por favor echarle un vistazo a su web para que veais las actuaciones que se estan llevando a cabo y aquellos que quieran colaborar pueden dejar su firma alli, hacen falta 50.000 firmas y ya van 33575 , todos podemos ayudar a salvar la zona.

Technically this tower (a co-op) was completed in late 1997, before the Bloomberg administration. But it was the first to be built in the Queens West masterplan, which now includes a city-funded megaproject for _affordable housing_ to the south, which is not exactly affordable.
