The Olympus E-500's CCD sensor pairs beautifully with the OM-mount Zuiko 50mm f1.8.
The E500 has a strange "Auto ISO" implementation. In most modes it leaves the ISO at 100 and does nothing at all unless the flash it turned on. This is a counterintuitive design choice that was changed on later models. Quirky but not a big deal, as I'm obviously not shooting an 8 megapixel DSLR from 2005 with modern convenience in mind.
That said, it seems an easy workaround is using "Sports" mode, which enables conventional Auto ISO (without requiring flash) up to ISO 400, and also biases the camera's exposure program towards faster shutter speeds.
You can still shoot RAW/JPG and still have access to tweak exposure and other camera settings. The exception is the picture profile - Sports always uses the "Vivid" color profile for the JPGs. Otherwise it's just a slightly more friendly Program mode.

Here is an extra-large photo from the Haga Ocean butterfly house in Solna on the north side of Stockholm, Sweden.
This is a male African swallowtail (Papilio dardanus), also known as the mocker swallowtail and flying handkerchief. Unfortunately it has damaged one of it's tails, but it also isn't crucial for flying.
So how come the photo is so large? Well, I simply took three shots of this one, one in the middle, one more to the left and one to the right and then fed them into Kolor Autopano Giga and out came this 90 megapixel shot which you should be able to zoom in a lot in.

A shot that i did a long time ago, and then merged with a shot that i've taken few hours ago^^ The first one was with the camera SONY A77 which i have used for its ultra wide angle (16-50mm) to capture a large scene
I removed the clouds and added some photos taken with my Nikon D700 and a IR 720nm filter, to have these surrealistic clouds
I had the idea to merge an IR and a real photo together, maybe - or it's sure - that someone had already done it before me ^^ but i wanted to see the result
And i think i'll do another shot with both technics

Yet more photos and more final edits! I was up at 4:30 AM the past four days shooting sunrises! Awesome sunrises over Point Dume thie time of year in Malibu.
Then I spent all day today moving over 75 large photos into the gallery! Most of these are framed and matted with 13"x19" metallic prints and an 18"x24" mat and a 3" wood-grain black frame! They look awesome! Stop on by Bel Air Camera's Gallery downstairs if you are close to UCLA or in Westwood. Give me a head's up, and I will meet you there if I'm free.
I thought I was done a couple days ago for December's LA Gallery show, but art is never done until it's done, and even then. . . Will be busy printing and framing in nice large, matted formats and frames and museum glass! Five of these photos will be printed on 40" x 60" floating wall mounted metal sheets! I think I know which--will share photos of the photos hanging on the walls!
And I am mounting some on plexiglass/acryllic--front mounting them! Some I am printing on lossy fuji-crystal archival paper too, and then front mounting 40"x60" versions to plexiglass--will send photos!
The secret to HDR photography is that you want people to say, "Woe dude--that's unreal!" And not, "Dude--that's not real!" "Unreal" is the word they use when they're trying to figure out the photo--what makes it cool--is it a photo? Is it painted? How'd it come to be--how'd you bend the light that way? "That's not real," is what they say if you have the saturation/HDR/ etc. turned up too high. :)

The Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Nikkor Wide Angle Zoom Lens rocks!
High Dynamic Range (HDR) photos rock in capturing the full dynamic range of the scene!
Captured in 2004, with an Olympus 2100. A 2 megapixel, mega-zoom wonder camera for its day.
Location is somewhere in Northumberland, between Hadrian's Wall and Scotland, as we meandered our way through the countryside visiting ruined abbeys, the National Park and Cheviot Hills.
I still remember this scene very clearly in my mind. The little single lane road with the passing place just on the right. The dark clouds ahead in the folds of the valley and some coming in around around us, the amazing low misty white clouds creeping along and tracing the outlines of the rounded hilltops ahead, the bright green pastures and of course the ever present sheep dotting the landscape.
I handmade the pano years ago in Photoshop with 3 images. I was not happy with it so I put it away for a bit. I took it up again a few years ago and put it though and older version of Nik filters, but was still not to happy with it.
I opened and gave it another shot again this morning to see if I could do better. I went back to some older layers and put it though the newest version of Nik's/Google Viveza then into Alien Skin's Exposure for black and white conversions.
I fiddle with the knobs and sliders in both plug-ins to get this image which I am now happy with.
Wish I could remember the exact location, maybe that stone viaduct will be a familiar landmark to one of my flickr friends in UK.
Pentax 67 | Takumar 105/2.4 | Konica Centuria Pro 400 | Epson V750
I am awfully in love with this old Konica film and just bought the rest I could find at a decent price. It's too bad so many great emulsions have gone the way of the Dodo. I have to say I definitely prefer the look of this stuff to Pro400H or Portra400 personally... It sort of has the best qualities of both of those to me. Guess I"ll have to mae it last.
I have been experimenting a bit with snapping extra shots on the sides when I photograph butterflies at a little further distance than the typical closeups.
Here is a blue-banded morpho (Morpho achilles) on a leaf - and then eight more shots around it and all nine then stitched together using Kolor AutoPano Giga into a single 304 megapixel photo (21 356x14 238 pixels).
The head and body of the butterfly when viewed in 100% size will just about fill the screen left to right on a regular 1080p screen - but this way we can see a little of the surroundings as well (Flickr doesn't show it at full resolution unless you go here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53159332990/sizes/o/ and wait a little for the 35 MB file to load).

A 140 megapixel panorama of Elephant Island from Cape Valentine (far left) to Point Wild (far right), South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. In 1916, Ernest Shackleton's shipwrecked expedition camped at Point Wild for four months before being rescued.
Shot with D800 and 70-200mm f/2.8 and merged with CS5 photomerge. Manual exposure (exposed for the highlights) was used with no polarizer to ensure images would blend seamlessly. Unfortunately, Flickr is just a terrible place to view panoramas. I'm sure this would look nice printed at about 8 feet long.

In technical terms, a human eye has a resolution equivalent to 576 megapixels. An eagle's eye has a resolution comparable to 1296 megapixels !!
We humans have a tendency to under-estimate everything, but don't you think we are much inferior to several other creations of God ?!

I had planned a Chucky image but because of this, that and the other thing that did not happen.
I was doing a "baby" not babe photoshoot and this was one of those images.

Some (almost) final edits for December's Los Angeles Gallery Show! Printing them on metallic paper at 13" x 19" and mounting and framing them on a 4mm 18x24 white mat and 2" dark wood frame. Also printing some 40" x 70" whihc is over three feet by five feet! Wish you all could come (and hang out with the goddesses)!
Let me know your favs.!

A fascinating creative display using a bicycle as its main prop at the Yak Youth Centre in Perth, Ontario, Canada.
I have to admire the creativity and collective effort required to create such an interesting display! Of course, having only used digital cameras since they first hit the market (a Canon 1.3 Megapixel was my first one), my eye was drawn to the pink (painted) digital camera at the bottom right.

Ralph Waldo Emerson. The happiest man is he who learns from nature the lesson of worship.
Lucius Annaeus Seneca: On entering a temple we assume all signs of reverence. How much more reverent then should we be before the heavenly bodies, the stars, the very nature of God!
John Muir: All the wild world is beautiful, and it matters but little where we go, to highlands or lowlands, woods or plains, on the sea or land or down among the crystals of waves or high in a balloon in the sky; through all the climates, hot or cold, storms and calms, everywhere and always we are in God's eternal beauty and love. So universally true is this, the spot where we chance to be always seems the best.
Welcome to your epic hero's journey! The beautiful landscapes kissed by magical light hath called ye to adventure, beckoning ye to read deeply Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, whence ye shall learn of yer own exalted artistic path guided by Hero's Journey Mythology. I wouldn't be saying it if it hadn't happened to me.
