16 Megapixels is so unforgiving. I haven't had a chance to shoot the thing in daylight, so this looks bad to me at 6400.
Besides that, it was 5 degrees outside, so this was taken from very, very shaky hands as I was holding the camera with nothing below me but a giant drop.
And finally, this is why I don't shoot Jpeg anymore. ickk

The 3.2 megapixel EDoF camera produces reasonable results for its specifications. Clearly it will not measure up to devices with more expensive components or specialised optics, but it should fit comfortable into the 'good enough' range.

I was going to be cheeky and ask how you like my new Fuji GFX? But that would be a misleading question. Here's what I actually did:
To isolate the subject from a potentially cluttering background I used the Brenizer Method to -
- Using a hefty tripod
- Using a Sony A7
- Using a Nikon Nikkor-P 105mm f/2.5 K pre-Ai (Xenotar)
- Using a cheap macro slider bar to center the lens nodal point over the tripods swivel point
- Take 20 to 30 photos (several rows by several columns overlapping 30 to 50 percent)
Processing -
- Using RawTherapee
- Using a "linear" camera profile
- Process images
- Using Hugin "Simple" interface
- Load/align processed images
- Using Hugin "Advanced" interface
- Allow application to set (HUGE) image size
- Stitch image
- Using Rawtherapee
- Using "Film Simulation" Fuji Classic Negative
- Using Vignette
- Adjust Exposure/Brightness
- Lower LAB Contrast/Chroma
See? Easy Peasy. I'll probably write something on my blog about these as there are a lot of details that I considered in this process. Including considering why I used a relatively small aperture f/2.5 lens when wider apertures are normally used in this method.

Let's zoom in on her face and look at the difference in megapixels. Obviously the 5D holds up much better, which will allow for better cropping capability than I had with the LX3. I also want to be clear in saying that this is not exactly a fair comparison since the LX3 is considered a point-and-shoot and the 5D is a full-frame DSLR. Still, it gives you a good idea of the quality you can expect moving forward on here.

This is my first attempt at stacking images with dedicated software (Registax 4.0 here). After some struggling, I came up with this, which is a composite of 16 JPEGs out of my D200 SLR.
Now that's what I called detail, considering the equipment. And as usual, there is still room for improvement :)
I reuploaded a revamped version made from a stack of 18 ten-megapixel jpegs, in a square frame for your viewing pleasure.

- The Roman Theatre
Built into the natural rocks of one of the town’s hills, the Roman theatre has been extensively restored and still remains one of the best preserved buildings in Fiesole. It was built shortly after the reoccupation of the site in the first century BC and was situated along the Cardo, one of the Roman town’s main streets that led to the forum.
The best seats in the house, situated near the orchestra and tribunalia arcades were reached by a series of vaulted passages that ran under the cavea or rows of seats. Several flights of stairs that ran up through the cavea could be used for seating elsewhere. Each stairway consisted of three flights of ten steps. The original rightside staircase of the theatre are still visible today.
Only the foundations of the frons scenae or stage area remained. These are sufficient to show the three doors, actors used to access the stage. The most interesting area of the backstage is a semi circular room that would have been used to operate the mechanism that opened the theatre’s curtain.
The theatre was redecorated in the third century AD. Only a few fragments of the ornamentation of the multicoloured orchestra mosaics remains as well as marble reliefs of mythical scenes and deities, preserved in the site’s museum.
