She was painted as part of a lounge event and photo shoot hosted by my meetup.com group Bay Area Photo Cliques.
The models were body painted in front of the lounge crowd while I ran a workshop for photographers about shooting with ambient light and flash.
While the girls were getting painted, the photographers and I captured images of the process, then when complete, took them aside for a few minutes of shooting with a studio setup before releasing them back to the adoring crowd.
This was a studio setup shot:
2 Calumet Travelite 750r with softboxes camera left and right; 1 Bowens Esprit Gemini Digital 500 with umbrella camera right and behind the model.

All the dolls! Featuring Beezeron's Bee, Honey, and Bear <3 I think they look really cute all together, they're a wacky group!
We had a blast at the first meetup for Tam Makers, our new makerspace in Mill Valley. We hosted this free event at the wood shop at Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley on June 8, 2016.
A diverse group of people came to the visit the shop, learn about our classes and discuss how to grow our maker community. Participants ranged from experienced artists, technologists, makers and woodworkers, to people interested in learning new skills, as well as high school and middle school students and their parents.
We opened the shop at 6pm and folks started to connect right away, checking out some of our demos, showing off recent projects and touring the space. At 7pm, we gave a presentation on Tam Makers, and talked about our first courses, meetups and tools for adults and youth. We then discussed these programs as a group and received some really helpful feedback.
Most people were very interested in participating in Tam Makers and using the makerspace regularly. They also liked the mix of classes, ranging from maker art to technology and woodworking. Some people signed up for classes on the spot and most wanted to join more meetups. Many offered to volunteer as well. One person said this event had a great community feeling, unlike more commercially motivated makerspaces.
We’re really happy that this first meetup went so well and that so many folks want to participate actively. We look forward to collaborating with our new maker friends very soon!

Large on black looks cool!
Last Friday night, I met up with another Flickrphile, Roger Caldwell, out at the old Swift Meat Packing Ruins. This shot was taken directly across the room from this other Flickr Meetup Room shot, taken back in February.
On a side note, this was the last picture I got off before I took a fall and broke the back LCD on my Nikon D80. :-(
Night, strong ambient sodium vapor light, pink-gelled strobe and natural LED flashlight.
Due to some very rude bad communication on behalf of the coffeeshop, this meetup ended up in our hosts' home. Thank you for making such a fun meetup in your home (and with only a few hours notice!), Emmie!! <3 <3 It was much fun!
A decent number of my pics turned out not so great. I was a bit worried I would knock over someone elses doll as it was close quarters, so I didn't get the greatest photos this time. C'est la vie! ;)
It’s amazing how ‘confidence’ allows you to relax and enjoy a friendly meetup with a wonderful girl, in this case my friend Marla. My confidence hasn’t always been there. It has grown gradually, helped by my clothing choices cuz you have to feel good about how you’re presenting yourself. Here I’m wearing a Guess leather skirt with sheer stretch blouse, black patterned tights and patent Mary Jane heels. 💕
FriendFeed meetup at Five Guys. Actually, we were in Gamestop at this point. They had just finished a Street Fighter tournament. They gave us bandannas and took our picture.
